Title: How long before seeds kick in? Post by kbrady on Aug 28th, 2006, 7:31am My DH has Episodic CH, he is about 10 days into a 6 week cycle. He has recently taken 3 doses of HBWR seeds spaced about 4 days apart (last dose yesterday) and the headaches are still coming and rapidly building intensity. The rate at wich the intensity is climbing is atypical for his cycle. He generally ramps up in pain and frequency over several weeks. How long should we give for the seeds to kick in before we call it quits and return the usual round of meds? |

Title: Re: How long before seeds kick in? Post by Pinkfloyd on Aug 28th, 2006, 5:44pm hard to say with this much information but he should wait at least 5 or 6 days after his last dose to see if things are showing improvement or not. He should know after that time if it working or not. Can you explain how the doses effected him? Did he notice any hallucinogenic effects at all? Is he on any of the list of drugs that might interfere? A little more info would be helpful. Bobw |

Title: Re: How long before seeds kick in? Post by Garys_Girl on Aug 28th, 2006, 7:23pm Many people experience post-dose activity from taking seeds or shrooms before the cycle breaks. The LSA or psilocybin causes a kind of "reset" - and sometimes the problem gets worse before getting better. At www.clusterbusters.com they do provide a list of things that can interfere with LSA or psilocybin treatment. It includes just about anything someone with CH takes, and stopping all meds for at least five days prior to dosing seems to basically be essential. Depending upon the meds, it may be best to scale down rather than stop cold turkey. There seem to be many more people that use RC Seeds vs. the HBWR seeds. HBWR seeds that we procured from iamshaman.com did nothing for hubby, while RC Seeds procured from bouncingbearbotanicals.com at least prevented an alcohol-triggered attack. The RC seeds have a lower toxicity and thus are much easier to work with (as you consume the whole seed (crushed), husk included, where with HBWR seeds you have to remove the kernel from the husk). Some experience relief right away - for others, it takes several days or several weeks with mutiple doses - and as BobW pointed out, it is recommended to wait 5 days between doses as the receptors in the brain have to open back up. So right now, again as BobW pointed out, the best thing to do is give it 5 - 6 days to see what happens. O2 and/or caffeine in some form are probably the best tools to fight the attacks while you give the seeds a chance to do their thing. I would add, however, that while LSA (seeds) have been effective for many, psilocybin seems to be far more effective when it comes to busting a cycle that's already started. Best wishes to hubby for PFDAN! Laurie |

Title: Re: How long before seeds kick in? Post by kbrady on Aug 29th, 2006, 4:32am Thanks for the input. He is currently on no meds and did experience some effects of the LSA. He did the treatment just at the start of the cycle while they could be managed with your basic OTC meds. 02 is on the way, hopefully it will bring some relief. I will share your thoughts, maybe he will feel he can wait the five days before making a decsion. |

Title: Re: How long before seeds kick in? Post by Flash on Aug 30th, 2006, 6:34am Has or had he been taking any OTC meds? Meds are meds regardless whether they a on prescription or OTC. If you go to some South American countries it's possible to get almost anything OTC. Among the worst meds for aggravating the CH condition are OTC analgesics. Whilst I have no idea whether they directly interfere with seeds I can guarantee you, based on horrible personal experience, that they make CH much, much worse. OTC analgesics include aspirin, paracetomal, and iboprufen. Please be aware that these drugs are often referred to by their trade names such as Tylenol, Anadin etc. |
