Title: change in pain tolerance Post by Charlotte on Aug 21st, 2006, 9:18am I am getting some relief with neurontin, indocin, kudzu, red bull, & maxalt. I still get hit but it is masked to a bearable level. The wierd problem I'm having is that my pain tolerance is going down and I am more aware of the pain. I kind of feel like a car with a manual transmission whose clutch went out but you can still drive it by listening to the engine to change gears. Charlotte |

Title: Re: change in pain tolerance Post by Soursmoke on Aug 21st, 2006, 9:21am How can you tell the difference between pain tolerance going down and pain going up? |

Title: Re: change in pain tolerance Post by Charlotte on Aug 21st, 2006, 9:37am usually my pain tolerance is high, and I actually can ignore quite a bit. When it is lower, I notice the pain more, even when it is less pain, and get some emotional suffering thrown into the mix. The pain going up is usually purely a physical thing for me, not too much emotional suffering. Charlotte |

Title: Re: change in pain tolerance Post by TxBasslady on Aug 22nd, 2006, 12:38am I think what you're feeling is perfectly normal. I have a high tolerance for pain...but sometimes...when the CH starts playin' games, it seems as though it goes on forever. After days of getting hit, no matter what the level of pain, I get (for lack of a better word) depressed. I've had enough...and I want it to stop. I go through this maybe once or twice a year. I'm episodic, but I have no cycle. My CH is random...and I'm subject to getting slammed just about anytime. The good thing is that 98% of my CH is at night. Things will get better for you...I think sometimes the emotional effects of any kind of pain gets us down. Good luck, Jean |

Title: Re: change in pain tolerance Post by rhino on Aug 27th, 2006, 7:10pm The older I get the less pain tolerance I have. I am 58 years old and my headaches started at 25. I recall some of those first headaches with out the medications we have today, I was one tuff son of a bitch then, now I am not sure how I would deal with that kind of pain. Yes pain tolerance changes. :-/ |
