The study will start in November, please contact Tosha or Amy at 214-345-1299 to be added on the list. Whats it called? |

Title: Re: CH study in Dallas Texas Post by CH_investigator on Aug 17th, 2006, 6:41pm The study medication is called rozerem or generic ramelteon. Rozerem has recently been FDA approved for insomnia. The medication acts at the same receptors as melatonin. There have several studies in CH with melatonon indicating that the melatonin may help reduce duration and number of attacks in the cluster episode. |

Title: Re: CH study in Dallas Texas Post by Jonny on Aug 17th, 2006, 6:58pm There are plenty of clusterheads living in Texas, prehaps the will respond here. In the mean time try checking the archives of this meds board. I came up with this link real quick. http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action=display;num=1136184258 |

Title: Re: CH study in Dallas Texas Post by CH_investigator on Aug 17th, 2006, 11:01pm One of the problems with melatonin is that we assume 9mg is 9mg. But there is much less quality control with over the counter products. A dose may potential vary widely in potency. Some brands have better consistency than others. This adds validity the findings that may be concluded from a study with a medication such as rozerem which is precription and is regulated for purity and accurate strength. |

Title: Re: CH study in Dallas Texas Post by Gator on Aug 18th, 2006, 12:57am I called several times, trying many of the automated options. The automated answering system (never could get through to a human being) answers as Neurology Specialists of Dallas. One of the alternate numbers you hear when going through their instructions and options comes back as the Dallas Headache Association using a reverse phone directory search. I'm still waiting for a call-back to confirm the status of the clinical trial. |

Title: Re: CH study in Dallas Texas Post by SophiaK on Aug 18th, 2006, 11:57am Melatonin gives me bad dreams, I had to stop taking it. It did not do for me what it has done for so many on this board. It didn't get me through the night, still had 2 hits and woke exhausted. I wonder if their new formula would do the same. |

Title: Re: CH study in Dallas Texas Post by CH_investigator on Aug 18th, 2006, 1:06pm Regarding clinic return calls, the rozerem study will not start until November. You may leave a message for indication of your interest or, better yet, leave a posting here. But we are not authorized to return clinic calls regarding the study yet. |

You are authorized to recruit but can't return phone calls? A little confusing. You can answer questions about the study online on a public message board but not in a private phone call? Bobw |

I don't know. The new formula shows a guy talking to Abe Lincoln and a gopher. Might depend on what you consider a bad dream. ;-) I've seen the commercial a bunch of times and I figured the guy that came up with the idea must have used pretty high doses of melatonin. Maybe he/she was a cluster sufferer. Not knockin the study.....its just a weird commercial ;-) Bobw |

Gettin' some weird vibes with this thing. It ain't passin' the smell test. Did you ever call Gator back? I know you "aren't authorized to return phone calls", but his is one that you might want to reconsider. George |

Thanks, Gator. You're right. Perhaps I'm jumping the gun. I think things could definitely be made a bit less murky, however. I don't have a lot of tolerance for cloak and dagger stuff. George |

I emailed the person to see if they were working or needed info, and was informed of the study & asked if I wanted to participate, so (not direct but) the answer was working. I don't think I can go to texas. Charlotte |
