Title: Cymbalta Post by She-ra_mommy on Aug 15th, 2006, 8:16pm Is anyone using Cymbalta? The headache clinic is taking off topamax because it was not making my headache any better. Now we are doing the cymbalta. I am also stopping histamine shot because that was not working like they thought it would. On Friday I will be having a spinal tap. |

Title: Re: Cymbalta Post by Melissa on Aug 15th, 2006, 9:54pm I was put on Cymbalta in September due to depression/anxiety disorder. I got my cycle in early December. I went off the Cymbalta on Feb. 19th (after my cycle ended) and am now controlling my anxiety with vitamins and self therapy. The Cymbalta had no effect at all on my clusters. ~mel |

Title: Re: Cymbalta Post by She-ra_mommy on Aug 15th, 2006, 10:14pm I did try Imtrex and had bad chest pain I am also a diabetic so I think they are avoiding the calicum channel blockers. Why all of the neuroleptics? I have no Idea was also on nortitriptolene. The spinal tap they think there might be to much spinal fluid. That all I understand. |

Title: Re: Cymbalta Post by Katherinecm on Aug 17th, 2006, 11:59am Yes, I have had several spinal taps. When I look back I think I may have had CH my whole life, just never had a KIP-10 until one night when I went to the ER. The ER doc told me I had CH (he has it too) but scheduled a follow-up appointment with my family doctor. I told her I was very scared, it seemed like something was very wrong. She admitted me for observation to the hospital, and that night I spiked a 103.8F fever. They kept me in the hospital for several more days doing tests- they thought for sure I had menningitis and would end up dead as the only syptoms I had were high fever and CH attacks (the pain radiated down my neck). They did two spinal taps before I put my foot down and said it's obvious I don't have menningitis as I would either be dead or better by now (menningitis acts very fast- oftentimes people die within 48 hours of first feeling symptoms). Eventually they figured out I had severe pnemonia (my right lung was 2/3 full of fluid), but my only symptom was CH and a fever. My next 3 cycles after that were all triggered by repeat respiratory infections and stopped with antibiotics (several courses of z-pack). I wish it hadn't stopped working, as now I'm chronic. |

Title: Re: Cymbalta Post by purpleydog on Aug 17th, 2006, 8:02pm My primary doc prescribed Cymbalta to me for chronic pain. It did help somewhat for that, and I just happened to notice after a few weeks on it, I was having less frequency and less intensity with my hits. I'm chronic, so this was good, and I attributed it to the Cymbalta, as nothing else had changed. I then went through a period of a few weeks where I was forgetting to take it regularly. Gotta get into a routine. Anyway, I recently entered a pretty vicious cycle, and have been shadowing pretty badly, and getting whacked pretty good. Luckily, I've been able to keep them under some sort of control, but I'm now not sure if the Cymbalta will help again or not. We'll see. I'll post if it does. edited to add: I've never had a spinal tap, the ER wanted me to have one once, but I refused. My head hurt already, and I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Already had an MRI, and a thorough exam, I knew it wasn't menengitis, and my neuro at the time didn't think I needed it. None of my other ones ever have either. |

Title: Re: Cymbalta Post by Karla on Aug 18th, 2006, 1:50pm I would refuse the spinal tap. It is your body and you have that right! You don't have to follow your drs recomendations. I was on cymbalta for almost a year. It did nothing for me. I wish you much luck in trying this medincine. |

Title: Re: Cymbalta Post by JimH on Aug 18th, 2006, 5:05pm Have you tried taking small portions of Imitrex? I can't take a whole 100mg pill, instead I break it in half and then in half again using only 1/4 of the pill and it works fine.... Good luck! I hope you find what works best for you. JimH |
