Title: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by prcole18 on Aug 13th, 2006, 3:08pm Hi people just had a great week in Greece, well apart from the 3 daily headaches :(. Anyway while I was out there I ordered some Timed release Melatonin 3mg Tabs over the internet as its nightime i'm being mostly hit & they have arrived already :). So I need some advice at how many to start off with?? just for the record im currently taking: 480mg Verapamil per day 750 - 1000mg Magnesium per day. Still getting hit around 3 times in 24 hours, mainly at night. Just finished another Pred taper today (really wanna get off this shit)! Have only been on the Verap a couple of weeks so maybe hasn't kicked in yet. So any advice on how many 3mg Melatonon to start taking would be much appreciated. Fingers crossed I may even get a decent nights sleep!! Paul |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by LeLimey on Aug 13th, 2006, 8:25pm Hi Paul, Some people find a combination of timed and regular release works best for them.. I know Thomas does that for one and he swears by it. Let us know how you get on! Helen |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by E-Double on Aug 13th, 2006, 8:46pm It may take a few too acclimate. Some use standard release while mixing in time release. I have only used standard and had great success BUT had to get past the first couple of nights then all of a sudden SLEEP :) |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by prcole18 on Aug 14th, 2006, 3:36am One of my worst nights! up at 1am 4am & 8am! :( 3 kip 7's. back to the doctors this morning, need another abortive that works apart from the Imigran jabs, done 4 since 9:30pm last night. anyone have any idea which is the best nasel spray that works? Is there an Imigran one? |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by E-Double on Aug 14th, 2006, 4:53am Zomig spray apparently works better than imigran spray. Get Oxygen for your additional abortive if you do not already have. good luck!!!! |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by LeLimey on Aug 14th, 2006, 5:28am Don't touch an imigran (Imitrex) nasal spray with your foot! Crappy things. Zomig is a better option as it has a longer half life and whilst I am aware you know the risks of using imigran (Imitrex) I am going to repeat the warnings for the benefit of anyone else reading this. Imigran/Imitrex along with all other triptans are VASO-CONSTRICTORS. They do not just constrict the blood vessels in your brain but throughout your bosy which puts a huge strain on your circulatory system. Not only should triptans NOT be used if you have a heart condition but the stated warning of no more than two doses in 24 hours should be adhered to to avoid causing heart conditions. Now that said and my conscience clear have you tried O2? Its my favourite (and only) abortive. I swear by it and using a ClusterMasx (http://www.clustermasx.com) I can abort in 5-7 minutes. Hang in there Paul, we're all rooting for you. If there is anything I can do to help just shout ok? Helen |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by prcole18 on Aug 14th, 2006, 11:51am Hi back from the doctors. He has given me Maxalt to abort as well as Imigran jabs. Also got an appointment with a neuro coming up hopefully. Had a kip 8 earlier maxalt seemed to take about 25 mins to work :-/. Finished my Pred taper yesterday but going to start another today as ive got to try & get some work done this week & believe me people im going through hell at the minute, trust me trying to do a days plastering on 2 hours sleep & after 3 kip 7's during the night aint much fun! I hate the Pred but its the only thing that seems to keep them down to a couple of hits per 24 hours. Going to give the Melatonin another go tonight & pray that this bloody Verapamil will start to work as this is probably my worst cycle of these ever. Oh what fun! :D |

Title: Re: Back from Greece & need Melatonin advice Post by E-Double on Aug 14th, 2006, 12:03pm I hope your doctor told you not to take maxalt within 24 hours of imitrex!!!!!!!!!!!! If not I am and no doubt oithers will too!!!! Extremely dangerous |
