Title: Oxygen Long Term Post by talbers on Apr 27th, 2006, 11:17am Folks, There is plenty of evidence that heavy use of Imitrex during a cycle, actually prolongs the cycle. I don't seem to be able to find any evidence, either way, regarding the use of O2 to abort. Does anyone know of any such tests, or evidence, or does anyone have any personal experience that they can share? I'm just getting ramped up on O2, thinking about acquiring some, and am interested in whether or not I can expect my cycles to last longer with it as well. Thanks in Advance, Trent Albers |

Isn't the Imitrex = "lengthened cycle" connection mostly anectdotal? I can't recall reading any studies that clearly demonstrate this correlation. I've only used the Imitrex through two cycles and can't clearly state that would be the case. Any more than my recent long cycle could be tied to O2. The important thing for me is that whatever the length of cycle I have ammo. I have been able to effectively KILL nearly all my hits before they last any longer than 10 minutes and/or ramp up to anything above a Kip 7. Most of them quicker and more effectively than this. So, I've reached a point where my feeling is, if I had to live with a cycle for 2 extra weeks but never take a hit full on (Kip 9 for 2 hours) I'll pay the two-week premium. I have nto, however seen a correlation such as this yet. Scott |

Title: Re: Oxygen Long Term Post by talbers on Apr 27th, 2006, 1:57pm The Rozen report seems to indicate that use of a daily injectible caused an increase in the frequency of attacks, as well as prolonged cycles in some of the case study patients. Didn't really elaborate on percentages, but I've certainly noticed that as I've become more dependent on Imitrex, my cycles have become longer, my kip ratings have crept higher, and my frequency has increased. It has seemed to me for some time that suffering has decreased frequency. Longer intervals between attacks. Could just be me though. I do remember in the past, before I really knew what clusters were, I would alternate between suffering and using Imitrex, and would average a day or two between headaches. Cycle lasting maybe two months. Now that I use Imitrex heavily, due to the Imitrex tip and stock piling of it during the offseason, my frequency is up as well as duration. I'd tend to agree with you if I just got a 2-week extension. Unfortunately, my last cycle was 6 monthes, instead of my old 2 monther. Just curious whether I can expect similar results with O2. |

Title: Re: Oxygen Long Term Post by Jonny on Apr 27th, 2006, 3:08pm Up untill about 15 months ago I was chronic for 30 years, I had to give up Trex cause I was getting three times the HA's I would normally get when I didnt use it. I switched to Zomig NS and it has never failed to work in under ten minutes, plus no rebounds. Theres not a damn thing wrong with 02, Ive been sucking it down for years and it can kill 80% of my HA's as long as I get on it at the start of one. As always, check with your doc! |

Title: Re: Oxygen Long Term Post by talbers on Apr 27th, 2006, 3:24pm One other question Jonny. Any idea whether Zomig comes in any form other than nasal spray. Tough to get nasal spray to work this time a year, due to my hay fever. Tablets are too slow too. Don't suppose Zomig comes in an injectable. Love the needles. |

Title: Re: Oxygen Long Term Post by Jonny on Apr 27th, 2006, 6:43pm Nope, no spikes as of yet....it does come in tabs but those fuckers take to long. With the NS you dont have to snort it down your throat, if that happens your wasting it. all you have to do is get it in your sinuses and it will be absorbed. The shit is like gold to me...hope that helps, Bro! |

Title: O2: A No-Brainer Post by Mr. Happy on Apr 27th, 2006, 8:04pm Nasal clogation IS a factor. Always snort to the less clogged side. But WHAT to do if both sides are clogged past redemption.???? Ozzie gave it several tries in BETA mode. He spit till he was dry, wiped any excess Wet with a Kleenex, and shot a Trex snort under his tongue. Gave it his best shot not to salivate, swallow or go snorkling. Seems it was absorbed sublingually pretty quick, but not a recommended procedure, especially in Public. Still, it's an alternative. Zomig fan. Victory or death. RJ |

Title: Re: Oxygen Long Term Post by Professor on May 2nd, 2006, 9:54pm It seems like no one has anything negative to say about Oxygen, and I'm wondering why my neuro never mentioned it. Are there ANY risks, side effects, long term issues associated with it? If no, where do you get it? Is it prescribed? Is it expensive? Is it covered??? |
