Title: Trileptal?
Post by Tom K on Apr 2nd, 2006, 1:44pm
What's up everyone?!  I screwed up my verap, went on and off over the course of a couple of weeks and now it doesn't work, even at 450mg, which is higher than I have ever taken it before.  The doc gave me Trileptal which is the brand name of oxcarbazepine.  Anyone heard of it or taken it?  I'm supposed to take 1/2 a day, 75mg for 3 days then 1 whole one a day for 3 days then 1 in the am and 1 in the pm.  Just looking to see if anyone has had any experience with it and if my verap will ever work again...I'm pissed at myself for screwing up my doseing >:(!!!

I tried verapmil up to 960mg maybe you gave up to soon.  Triliptal is an anticonvulsant drug commonly used to treat epilepsy.  I have tried it without success for ch.  I hope you have better luck than I did.

Tried it up to 300mg - nothing.

Good luck with it.

Old tried and true for some with migraine....  Haven't read much about it's success for CH, but the antiseizures have worked for some, so hopefully it'll help you!

After you're away from the verap for awhile, you may find that when you try it again, it'll work just find.  Sometimes the body just needs to "forget" the verap and then try again!  Ask your doc and see what he or she thinks, too - of course.

Good luck!

Carrie :)

I agree with Lizzie - take a break and come back to it.  I'm currently at 960 mg per day - not sure if it's helping or not.  Still getting hit, but would it be worse without the meds   [smiley=huh.gif]

Not sure about the medication - haven't heard of it at all.

Here's hoping that you have some pain free time your way soon.
