Title: Anyone heard of using Campral?
Post by kcopelin on Mar 12th, 2006, 9:07am
Someone just told me she thought she'd seen some cross-over uses for Campral.  Campral is a drug used for alcoholics and apparently acts to balance neurotransmitters.  Anyone have any info on it?

I've never heard of it, kathy.   :-[
One thing does strike me though. Hallucinogenics and kudzu are being tested for addiction treatment.
One of those things that makes me go http://bestsmileys.com/thinking/5.gif

Interesting that it is an analogue of taurine, the stuff in Red Bull that people say aborts their attacks.

Quote:
Acamprosate calcium is a synthetic compound with a chemical structure similar to that of the endogenous amino acid homotaurine, which is a structural analogue of the amino acid neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid and the amino acid neuromodulator taurine.
