We're peer reviewing an article for the European Journal of Neurology on sexual activity as a cluster abortive... and you think I'm joking

It's titled "NOW dear! I have a headache..."

Basically a two case-study artcle where the patients report being able to abort an attack by having an orgasm

We gave it the go ahead so if it gets printed I'll post the link and if it doesn't I'll send the artcile to Boob so he can distribute once he get's out of the bed room

... I've heard that it works for some people. I still haven't figured out how one could want to have sex during a hit... but, to each his own. I've also heard of sex as a trigger.

Danny isn't a full fledged troll.  Granted he doesn't have clusters but his dad runs a headache clinic in South Africa and Danny functions administrativly for the clinic.

If that were the case, I would reach my orgasm in 2 minutes and the headache would be gone.  It only gets your mind off of the headache but does not stop the headache.  Once you reach orgasm the headache has ended and you can go back to sleep.

I think it is more a redirection of blood flow....just like exercise will abort for some, but triggers others.  

Sex has worked as an abortive for me in the past, just as heavy exercise will work for me as an abortive.

Anything that will even remotely help, and doesn't include massive amounts of drugs that can fuck you up, is a good thing in my book.

But, then again, sex is always a good thing... ;;D.

Sorry jonny......I have to disagree... ;;D.

Before I was diagnosed, I had no other options.  Exercise and sex were the only two things that I found which would work.  I didn't even know what the damn headaches were, much less know about 02 or any of the good things.

I found out sex would get rid of shadows.....and the shadows then didn't hang around for hours or build into a hit.

I'm not advocating it as an abortive.....but for a long time, I did try to catch each hit before it got bad.

I still remember my husband looking at me one time and saying...."I'm not fucking medicine".  It was pretty damn funny.

Have to say I 100 % agree with Jonny.   And I'm only saying this because it literally just happened a few hours ago.  I had  just gotten finshed going through my whole HA routine(imitrex, oxygen, ice,etc).  My girlfriend came home from work, feeling somewhat frisky and right about the time I was about to climax, the deomon of all demons hit me.  I swear to God, I thought I was dead right there and then.  All the classic symptoms ten-fold.  I've never felt anthing like it in my life.  So, as of tonight, I would have to say that I disagree with old saying that "sex cures headaches. :o

NO SHIT!!!!   I go from zero to FUCK ME in about 1-3 mins Sorry I am pretty fond of my johnson him and I have had some pretty good times together over the years but he's on his own when I get hit....

in my first post I said this works for me and well yes it does - most of my CH's occur shortly after falling asleep or in the middle of the night....  if I'm lucky enough to have sex prior to going to sleep I can avoid a hit.  And yes it will get rid of the shadows too...   BUT  
During a full blown attack don't come near, don't try and touch me cos I'll hit ya  ;;D

Tried once recently to convince my girlfriend that it would help prevent.  She definitely wasn't buying it.  Maybe it was the scare she got when she thought she had killed me because I got hit during :'( :'(.  I'm not kidding.  There I lay in tears b/c of the pain and there she laid crying b/c she felt like she had done it.  I agree= definite mood killer.
