Title: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by Imhealed732 on Dec 21st, 2005, 10:22pm Hello all. I am in my mid 20's and have suffered from cluster headaches for about 7 years. I know how difficult this is and I can certainy understand why everybody has turned to this board for help. Cluster headaches nearly destroyed my life. Imitrex works well, but I cannot take more than 2 shots a day or I begin to feel woosy. Furthermore, this is not a completely safe drug for your heart. I also take verapamil which has taken some time to work, but now succesfuly limits headaches to once a week on a good month. I have made a recent discovery, however, that I am really excited about. Capazasin HP cream succesfully aborts my headaches! I simply apply a small amount onto my nose and over the region of pain on my face. Be sure not to use too much....this cream burns like hell at first, but mellows after 15 minutes. After the burning subsides, my headache is gone. Even better news is that this prevents headaches for me on a bad day. Please try this out if you are looking for a natural alternative to imitrex. Capzasin is derived from cayenne peppers, and its healing qualities are well documented in medicine. if you have any specific questions for me, please feel free to reply. I wish everyone the fortune of finding the cure for thier cluster headaches. Happy hiolidays. Scott :) |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by mcf69 on Dec 21st, 2005, 10:48pm Thanks for the tip Scott, it makes sense since capsaicin is used in the treatment of CH. I was just reading an article the other day on CH treatment which mentioned it: Quote:
Keep us updated on how it works for you. Best of luck. |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by seasonalboomer on Dec 22nd, 2005, 8:50am Boy, there sure are some great stories of how people have used products like this on previous threads. First time I've seen a topically applied cream as the answer. Glad it works for you. I would be afraid that I end up rubbing it in my eye as I tend to push in on my face and eyes a lot during a hit. Then I think we're only talking about a diversion for the pain as I'd be screaming bloody murder with Cap-z in my eye. Take care with claims of "I'm healed" and "miracle treatments". As it has worked for you, great. But, often the same treatments don't or haven't worked so well universally. CH is a cunning condition and we all try to avoid referring to things as miracles and cures out of respect for each other, and those that don't get the same results from certain treatments or medications. Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by catlind on Dec 22nd, 2005, 9:46am While the topical capsaicin never worked for me, there was a study conducted on Civamide, a nasal spray derived from capsaicin. The trials didn't have much success as showing it's efficacy as an abortive, but the anomaly that showed up was that it seemed to have preventative qualities. I don't know where the official study results are, but I will try to find them and post them here. Glad it works for you, but sadly, you shouldn't get too hopeful that it has healed you in anyway. The beast is good that way. Cat |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by cmoore on Dec 28th, 2005, 5:16pm i have used the capzasin hp on my nose, cheek bone, and temple on the right side where i am affected. I am not sure if it has directly given me relief, but I noted in another thread that I enjoy the diversion it provides. While the burning itself is not necessarily painful, it is something else to feel, something else to occupy your mind when it seems as though the ch attack is the only thing that could possibly be on your mind. I like using it, the only problem is it turns my face red as hell where I apply it and i look like a damned fool! -chris |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by StressFree on Jan 6th, 2006, 4:04pm Capzasin cream vs. up the nose - interesting. Sounds kind of like the lidocaine nasal spray I used for a while. Numbed the whole inside of my face and nose pretty well and worked for a few days to abort attacks, but then the beast found it's way around it and hit me harder than ever. I had the same effect using menthol creams on my temple, face, and neck. Works amazingly well for one or two attacks, and then won't touch it!!! Best of luck with it though, Rich |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by beezee on Jan 18th, 2006, 4:25pm For all you people out there making fun of this treatment .. Guess what? It works and I have been using it successfully on cluster cycles for about 7 years. There was a clinical trial on this in Sweeden about 10 years ago. The proper way to use it is to rub a small amount on the temple (headache side) 3 to 4 times a day. It takes about a week to reach full effect. The headache still carries on with the tearing and nasal symptoms but ZERO PAIN. It works as it blocks the pain signal to the brain. I've used it for 15 episodes and it worked 12 out of the 15. The other times I had to use Oxygen. I guess it depends where the headache originates. A tube of this cost about $10 in any pharmacy. With all the money and suffering you have went through is a $10 investment that sounds like total quackery worth a shot? I initally had the same reservations. Now I would pay a $1000 a tube if I had to. |
||
Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by thebbz on Jan 18th, 2006, 9:22pm If it worked for me I would fill the tub with it and soak. If kudzu worked I would roll in it. It is a fact for me, what works once or twice does not work the next time. The demon has this way of getting around meds. If trex was all I had and it had to be injected in the neck,,,,look out neck. Wish it worked for me. Glad it is providing some relief. jb [smiley=pokeeye.gif] |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by vig on Jan 19th, 2006, 11:54am First... Capsaicin is a treatment, not a cure. IF it helps, it will not prevent future hits. again, these are the ONLY posts from these two people. We have no idea who they are and if they even truly suffer. We get marketeers here regularly who will be glad to lie and be phony and pretend they are a real sufferer when their only intent is to push products.... I personally have NO reason to believe beezee and imhealed732.... |

If it worked for two people already don't you think it's worth a shot? A placebo effect just doesn't work for Cluster headaches. For those idiots that think I am pushing a product for some drug company ... I never mentioned any brand name. It comes in many different brands. So just keep posting negative replies to fellow sufferers that are trying to help you. Try all the dangerous drugs and still have a cluster scale #10. I'll be using my Capsaicin and smiling thinking of you the fool ... suffering. It may or may not work for you but for a lousy $10 .. try it and thank me later. |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by jmorgan52 on Jan 21st, 2006, 6:56am chill out Beezee. Thes guys are often tough on newcomers who think they have found a cure. See if the cream really helps you long term, then you can say its a miracle. I personally have found that Tiger Balm (it burns like hell for a few minutes) rubbed on the sore side temple helps to ease a low kip CH if you catch it quickly enough, but for a full blown CH you might just as well eat the jar and rather use a trex inj. Stick around mate John |

Title: When I fiRe: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by beezee on Jan 21st, 2006, 7:22am That tiger balm is probably Capzasin which burns like hell when you first start using it. The fact that it works for a mild cluster to me shows if you use it the way I mentioned it just might work for the monster ones. It must be used 3 to 4 x daily for a few days to reach full effect. Don't wait fo the headache to use it as that won't work fully. Morning noon and night. When I first started it It mildly worked on the fist couple then after a few days it wokred on all of them. I was a doubter just like most of you. Do a google search of the newsgroups and you'll see posts dating back years of people this has worked for. |

Want to know why? Because posting howash cures and treatments leads the yet to be educated CH sufferers who are already on a path of desperation, down yet another path of frustration. You want appropriate treatment ? Save time,money, and emotional chaos by going to a cluster educated neuro. |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by beezee on Jan 21st, 2006, 8:21am Just to let you know I go to one of the best neuroligsts in the USA. I have MS and have to go once every six months. Unlike you my Dr. is open minded and has had other patients try it, some successfully. She has filed a report of information on it to the AMA. I won't bother posting anymore on this. I feel I did my job to help people here. If most people here are like you then I wasted my time. If one or two try it and get relief I'll feel it was worth it. |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by kcopelin on Feb 14th, 2006, 11:00pm Years ago I tried a capasin cream (Doctors Friend or some such name). Hey I was desperate. Loaded up a q-tip and swabbed the inside of my right nostril, and rubbed it on the entire right side of my face. It did not stop the clusters. HOWEVER, it blistered my face and I ended up with a sinus infection. But, hey, it was worth a try. Have also heard that bleu cheese (any brand) and vinegar (any brand) rubbed on the chest can bring relief ;;D Red flag words/terms: cure, cured, amazing, cheap, so glad I found this site becasue now I can save others from suffering needlessly... :-/ guess we might be reactive but with good cause. Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by jon019 on Feb 15th, 2006, 1:09am Hello All, "The third rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. The second rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. The first rate mind is only happy when it is thinking." A.A. Milne I am so tired of being protected because I am just too dumb to know what's good for me. Long before I came to ch.com I relentlessly researched treatments for this demon bitch condition. Short of some alternates, I have tried as many "treatments" as I could find. (doubt there are many here who deny the same). While I don't have the troll radar that Jonny has (and it's damn good) I don't fall for the Dr Ho's or Wo's or whatever the f**k they call themselves. What i do do is make reasoned decisions based on cost:benefit. One of these is the infamous "capsaicin" of this thread. First read about it in the NHF newsletter and saw it in other reputable (my judgement, argue if you wish ) places. My first attempt was tabasco sauce on a q tip up the nose. Hoo boy, that'll get your attention and do nothing for a hit. Then moved to ointment on the temple and, believe it or not ,(desperation is the mother of desperate acts) cayenne powder snorted in the affected nostril. Burn baby burn, damn right, but for about a year it actually worked. Not a placebo effect, and you can think me a knothead cuz I probably am. But dumb as I may be, I can recognize when I get hit and when I can stop it. No longer works and more's the pity. Would be doing it still if it wasn't so. Anyone who says this is a miracle cure or even uses the word cure at all, is a bigger knothead than I'll ever be. But anyone who dismisses, out of hand, the POSSIBILITY of it being effective is shortsighted and narrow minded. Anyone who's tried it and it doesn't work, fine, tell us that. Anyone who hasn't tried it, yet derides it, fine, tell us that too. Just don't tell us dumbies that you KNOW. Because what I do know is just how much I don't know about Ch. Yet, I do know more than most Dr's who have tried to treat me. Thomas Edison said, " We don't know one millionth of one percent about ANYTHING" Please, don't assume you do either. There, I've said what I think and thought deeply about what I said, floors yours. I love you all and will no matter what. Regards Jon |

Title: Re: Capzasin HP....my miracle treatment! Post by FramCire on Feb 15th, 2006, 10:45am I hope this stuff works for you guys but anyone with CH that says this: "I'll be using my Capsaicin and smiling thinking of you the fool ... suffering. " is not a good person in my book. I can't smile when I am pain free thinking about others who are suffering. To say this is classless, childish, and honestly shows a lack of compasion for others. This guy sounds like jfrench when he/she/it said: "so u can accept my offer or continue to suffer, seeing what jerks and doubters u all are i actually hope u don't try it and keep suffering." because people didn't think he found "THE CURE" after mere hours of trying some herbal remedy. Folks, if you have something that works... please share it but when you say stuff like this, you have 0 cred in my book. I begin to wonder if these guys are the same person googling CH cures and trolling this board with every obscure reference they find. Anyway, here's to PF days for EVERYONE! |
