Title: Pregnancy and Clusters
Post by Woobie on Mar 18th, 2004, 10:46am
In another section - it has been mentioned that clusters go away when you're pregnant.

Is this true??  Is this normal... or just for a few people.

If it IS.. then WHY would being pregnant StOP Clusters??  Is it a hormone thing?

Like I said in that other thread... If I had clusters, and being pregnant was the cure... I would be a frikkin baby machine!!

I just wanna know why??

Well, so far I have not read any more postings from either people who claim to be having attacks during their pregnancies, so I cannot say for sure if this is true.

I CAN say that for ME, it IS true that my clusters go into remission during pregnancy.  I became pregnant in Sept. 02 and did not get that years Sept. cycle.  Of course, I got hit like a mack truck 2 & 1/2 weeks after I had my baby in 03' though.

From reading threads over the years about clusters and pregnancy, I think I can safely say that a large majority do NOT get hit while preggers.

:)mel

oh and  P.S. I don't know WHY they stop, but I do know I wish I could bottle up whatever it was that stops them. :-/

This question has come up a few times, but I don't think anyone has any definite answers about why clusters sometimes stop during pregnancy.  My cluster attacks have come once a year, every year since 1997 with the exception of 1998 when I was pregnant.  I gave birth to my son in March of 1999 and had an attack two weeks later.  I have not had an attack that early in the year since or before that time.  Hope that helps.

OK- that's 2 people on this thread and one on another thread that said 2-2 1/2 weeks AFTER the pregnancy they get slammed.

WTF? It's gotta be a hormone thing......

maybe all you mens need is some girly hormones....  all you men are too manly!  [smiley=crackup.gif]

Seriously tho -  doesn't anyone else find this interesting??

MISS YOU TOO ThOMAS!!   :-* :-* [smiley=hug.gif]

Yes it is interesting, but would I get pregnant to find out or be PF, NO.  I had to many other issues with my health while I was pregnant.  PIHT - Pregnancy Induced Hyper Tension. Ended up with a BP of 178 over 142 while I was in labor with my son and my kidneys had shut down.  Scared the hell out of my husband.  Besides the shitty ass nurse who when they discover PIHT looked my husband dead in the eye and said "well we will do what ever we can to keep your wife out of a coma."  I though he was going to kill her.

All of that was happening while they had my on potosin (spelled way wrong) to induse labor and magnesium to lower my bp (but it is also used to stop early labor) my poor body had no figging clue what to do.  Luckly, once I was fully dialated it was quick delivery after that. And he was small, only 6 lbs 3 oz.  The way the doc explained it, PIHT occurs because the placenta embeds in the uterus wall and actually take nutriens fro mthe baby.  They usually have to take the baby as soon as they discuver PIHT.  Luckly mine di dnot show up until the end of my 8th month so he was not considered premee.  But he has made up for it now, at 19 mo outgrowning 24 mo clothes.

We definatly had an angel with us that day.

The answer is first:  I.  Don't.  Know.

I always experienced a cluster-free pregnancy.  Directly following the birth of each of my three children i went DIRECTLY into a cycle.

SOME women have posted that had clusters during their pregnancy.  However, i have found a common link with MOST in that we have had remissions DURING pregnancy.

Wish I knew why.
