Title: Fetal Position
Post by HypnoticFreddy on Mar 1st, 2004, 8:11pm
In my most severe CHs, I find myself in a fetal position. Is it some sort of defense mechanism, that when an animal is about to die.......they get in a fetal position?

Do people do this?

I'd really like to know, cuz the other night, it was all I could do. I forgot how to use my Imitrex injections....and when I tried (twice!) it went spraying in the air (I have directions now). Anyways, any thoughts?

Freddy,

Sorry to hear you wasted Imitrex. I'm sure most of us have did it at least once. Sure sucks !!!!

Do you split the Imitrex. Sure hope so. For most, a 1/2 shot works just a s good. See the Imitrex tip to the left of the page.

After a KIP 10 I think we get sooo worn out like we ARE dying. Maybe that's what causes the fetal position after you are totally drained of energy. Don't know.

PF Vibes to you.

Freddy,

Another story to make you not feel so bad about the Imitrex...one time I had mine sitting on my desk because I was about to do a shot...and I accidently knocked it off the desk, and when it fell on the floor, the button popped on the pen and the imitrex sprayed everywhere.  I was soooo mad!!  It was kinda funny that it went off like that though!!

Keep hanging in there....I haven't been on trex for a long time, so I haven't really looked at the tip to the left yet, but it seems like VERY helpful for lots of people here.

Well, there are not too many CH manuals on how to bare unbareable pain.
However, the imitrex is kinda important at times like that, the nasal spray is very simple, hardly can miss.  Slower acting, but faster than injecting it into the air and breathing heavy.  You'll get it in time with practice.
I seem to favor on my knees and elbows rubbing my head with an icepack and my face in a pillow waiting for it to work.  That's for the bad ones I wake up with at night.  Keep good rhythm, everybody dances different.

HypnoFred,

Yeah, Its pretty much the default position for me when the beast hits. Least while I'm at home. Other times I just bang my melon on the nearest hard object hoping to powder my skull.

Yep, curled up in the corner banging the old head, when the trex is gone can't breathe lose concience wake up start all over. I have to mention that Glaxco gives doctors Imitrex injectors for demonstration and should guide you initially through , evidently they figure you should somehow just know. I shooter in the shoulder. My wife knows this procedure as well sometimes she has had to for me. Hang in there  thebbz  :) :) :)

I would hate to have seen myself going through my bizarre contortions while twisting in my kitchen chair, in the dark and threatening to kill anyone who came near me. It's hard to imagine not doing strange stuff.

Good luck and you are definitely not alone.

I can't curl up into a fetal position, I usually sit on the sofa with elbows on my knees, rock forward and back while rubbing every muscle and bone I can find on the CH side of my head until the trex kicks in.  Of course, I let out lots of sound effects, which would sound real good in a horror or porno movie (depends on how severe the attack is). ::)

Oh yeah, and I've shot imitrex into the air myself.  Either the damn injector was acting up or my thumb was.

That pretty much describes me Melissa. I'm a rocker and then sometimes it get's to the point where I have to get up and pace through the house...lol, like that does any good.
