Post by IcePickStuckInHead on Feb 17th, 2004, 12:01pm
Has anyone taken BUTAL/APAP/CAFF PLUS TAB WSW? I have been pain free for 3 years but the bastards are back.  I take 1 every 8 hours but am still awakened in the middle of the night.  The phanton is with me all day. My current cycle has been 4 weeks.  How does the imitrex work?HELP!!!!!

I can't answer the question on "Butal, etc.", but the imitrex injections works within 5 minutes on me.  The shots are for a single headahce and you are told not to exceed two shots per day.  Some people divide the shots up--see imitrex tip to your left. Hope you have health insurance since they're very expensive. Good luck.

The butal combo is sometimes called fioracet.

Butalbital (generic Fioricet) is a non narcotic pain pill, often prescribed for tension headaches and migraines. Fioricet® is a barbiturate (butalbital), mixed with acetaminophen and caffeine. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. Caffeine is believed to constrict dilated blood vessels that may contribute to tension headaches. butal/apap/caff fioricet

There is a  type with codiene.  I have taken it for meegraines.  didn't help the clusters.

the fioracet works pretty well for the shadows but if your getting a lot of shadows (mine are pretty constant in cycle) it eliminates the benefits.

fioracet for CH? Mind as well eat some toast, about the same effect.

...and might as well be getting treatment from a chef if this is what your doc is prescribing for CH.

Good point.

Are you seeing a neuro and is it the same doc who treated you 3 years ago?

I would suggest to your dr that you move over and try newer meds like imitrix or zomig or axert.  I tried butalbitol and it did nothing for me.  It was like eating candy.  :(

Heres another consideration. If you have any type of liver problems you dont want to be ingesting acetaminophen.

What is your Docs name? Nostradamus? HEY DOC THIS IS 2004 !
