Sadly, we've had children younger than Cam talked about here.  Shelley's little man was not much older than 3 when she first arrived here.

The saddest CH story I ever heard was of the multiply handicapped child with CH (I forget how old he was now, but not very...) - his dad told us that he had no vision, hearing or speech and also suffered from cerebral palsy.  They were able to determine that the "seizures" he was having were, indeed, cluster headache.  I'm sure that little guy wasn't much past 6.

I'm 23.  I hate hearing that little kids have to suffer with this.  I don't even know if I want to have kids because the migraines I have are genetic, and I just don't know if I could watch my kids go through it. :(

Well, guess I should wait until I find the guy to have them with first! :)

Reading on the kids and cluster board makes me cry.

I have not a clue how Camerooski's mom deals with it.

It literally breaks my heart......... :'(

Wish I could take the pain for that little boy..... :'(

Very true.  I look at my kids and they both have sinus troubles / sinusitis with headaches that they got from my hubby mostly. But I really worry at times that they could be worse.  I can tell when my 17m old is in pain and there are times when he will hold his head and just lay on the ground and I find myself praying that he just does not end up with these things.  That it is just the preassure changing.  At least he is willing to come to me and have mom help and thank the powers that be that I can.  Some kids tylenol, warm washclothes to the sinuses and rockig in moms lap and it makes it go away.  Hell I dont know what I would do, if I could not help him at all.  :'( At least we can verballize and say what we are feeling, they are the innocent victims.

Where do those of us who are immortal fall?

Forever young or hopelessly old?

My 11 yr old girl is starting to have CH.  Last month I saw all the tell tale non-fakeable signs, but it was only one attack.  I've never been so depressed as at that moment, realizing she was going to go through it.  CH is a BIIAAAAATCH.

I can't even imagine trying to deal with this crap as a child.  My heart breaks for them.

Very small consolation for the young ones...

Treatments and diagnosis are better now, and they have the experiences of all the older clusterheads to draw on.  Hopefully their Hell will be a *little easier* to del with as they grow older.

Something tells me that the battle will never end unfortunately, though.  :'(

My son Joshua started having ch when he was 13.  I died when I found out he was suffering from them as well as migraines just like me.  I am so grateful that he is not chronic like his mother.  All his brothers suffer from migraines.  I am waiting to see if any more of them develope into clusters.  No fair.

If memory serves me (which we all know is usually pretty much kaput), I think the youngest recorded cluster attack was in an 11 month old baby.   That really sux.

I've read (can't put my hands on it now) that some people only have one attack and that it--never again.  Surly hope your daughter is one of these.

They say it's not genetic...my father suffered, both of my grandfathers suffered, I've suffered since I was 18 & I'm now 48, & my 20 yr old daughter has suffered since she was an adolescent although she hasn't been "officially" diagnosised (I pray it's not ch with her).  What makes me angry is that there are treatments but they are expensive & way too difficult to obtain.  I sure hope someone can organize ch'rs & get some results for the next generation if not for us!

There's actually research being done as we speak on the genetic thing. I think it is a distinct possibility that it may be genetic for some people.  If you have migraine, you have a 50/50 chance of having a kid with migraine.  If both parents have migraine, the child has a 75% chance.  I don't know that the odds are quite as high with clusters, but they are definately looking into the possibility that it IS genetic.

Mine started at age 11 right after a closed head injury.  Now i'm 35 and still episodic.  At 11 it was more difficult than now because I have found this board to help me with support including education that I did not have when I was 11.  This board rules!

Jeez, been so long I almost can't remember that anymore, but I think it was 1992 when mine started. 37 now...sigh, I feel old....clusters, back surgery (6 screws and 2 pins in May last year. I have 2 boys 11 &13 and no sign of CH...thank God!
My remission should be good for another year...Wooohooo!!!!
Already ordered my O2 for Feb1,2005...is that planning too far ahead? lol

It is a cruel joke to play on a child, they should not have to suffer like this! I can't imagine being that young with that much pain..nor do I want to!
oops...too late :'(

One of the nicest things I heard was from Paul (VIG)
he said when he is getting hit he thinks of it this way
That he is having a headache instead of a child having one.

Sad, hearing about all the young'ns getting CH. Its a shame.....

I gotta wonder though...How the hell would you diagnose an 11 mo. old with CH? Considdering that the same cant fall to the floor and say where it hurts only that it does??? Just curious.

damn shame it is.....why can't the kiddies get a reprive? don't know what I'd do if one o mine came down with this horrible ordeal......specially chronically.

Oh and BTW I don't qualify in this contest :D
