Title: Need computer help Please!
Post by Elaine on Feb 3rd, 2004, 4:06pm
I use out look express as my email.
When I get attachements it says; OE removed the following unsafe attachement in your mail.
It is removing all my attachements and one was  my E-Ticket for the trip to TX!
Help! Please!

Hi Elaine,

I believe your ISP (internet service provider) has a HTML email service that you can retrieve your attachment from.  Look for the icon on their home page that is not connected to outlook express.  I can retrieve mine from these two sources.

Elaine,
Tell them to attach a virus to the ticket and it will probably go right through, LOL.

It must be in your security settings which will probably be located in start/ settings/ control panel/ internet options, but I could be wrong but it is worth a try.

1. On the Outlook Express Tools menu, Press Options.

2. On the Security tab, clear the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus box.

3. Press OK.

Elaine,

Did you get your E-ticket?  I hope that worked for you.

Also, DO NOT FORGET TO SET IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS.  As you can see, that setting is only a pain once in a while.  The rest of the time it does help stop these nasty worms and virii.

SP2 (http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup.htm) caused this for "security" reasons (i.e. Microsoft).

This (http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm) should fix it.

Beware of any and all attachments (http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/antivirus.htm).

Elaine, if you go back and open the email message that they sent you, you should be able to access it after doing what fubar told you to.  It is not that it blocks or deletes the attachment, but Outlook and Outlook Express will stop you from opening a potentially unsafe attachment.
