I went to the grocery store and all the bread and milk were sold out.

Does this only happen in the south? Just wondering, LOL!

Nah dude it's not just the south. In St Louis we got about a quarter inch of ice yesterday and a little snow coming tomorrow and you'd be lucky to find bread, eggs or milk right now.
The whole city seems like it's closed so why am I sitting here @ work?

When I lived in Minnesota and a blizzard was on the way you could always find milk, eggs and bread.  It was beer that was always on the scarce side.

The milk and egg situation can happen in New York state when 3' or more of snow is predicted, of course if you live in the Syracuse area that is the average daily snow fall. Ice storms on the other hand are the worse things, a big one hit northern NYS and power was off for 2 to 4 weeks. They were stealing generators, one from a child with a respirator, so if that happens chain down your generator.

Its times like this when one relishes in the fact that they reside in an area of the country that is used to having this weather ;;D Yeah.....there are always the idiots who think a coupla flakes means blizzard and an excess of food will become necessary, and Yeah..........the first snow of the season always catches a few folks off guard while driving, but God praise the plowmen and salt truck guys, they are On the ball up here this year and driving conditions have not been all that bad so far.

Here's a poser, I suppose some of you out there might be teachers or school administrators, so, why is it that school closes for being TOO hot, and for little snow? I don't recall that happening as often for me in MY school years, actually, I remember the contrary. >:(

It snowed..... so what?

It was in the 70's yesterday in Dallas.  Woke up to a balmy 58 degrees.  NOW...it is 27 with wind chill of 17.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but Texas schools never close due to heat, even 110 degree heat.  As far as ice goes....the cities do not have the equipment to handle snow/ice like those cities that get frozen precip on a regular basis.

Where i live...a sand truck is something used for hauling sand for making concrete or softening  arena soil...it is called a flat bed trailer and a 1 ton pickup.

Glad we missed the frozen stuff!!!
Stay warm and pf,
Renee

We're getting freezing rain and later snow to add to the two feet we already have. It's not new to us though and we get around.  We do is bitch about it of course.

It's scary seeing suthin drivers in winter. They don't know what to do. It's not their fault though. Lots of dangerous and deadly stuff.

Here’s the skinny on the weather.

Weather, hot or cold, snow, rain, blizzards, sunshine, wind and calm were all invented in Vegas. It is manufactured there and moved across North America and parts of Central and South America.
The nice warm, calm weather is made for the local area. The cold, snow, wind, blizzards and such are for export. There is a logical reason for this method.
The nasty weather exported to other regions makes people long for a better place during the winter, normally the slow time in Vegas. Vegas, keeping the nice weather, looks good to the out of staters (aka frozen-folks-bringing-money) and they travel to Vegas to enjoy the nice winter weather and, of course, leave money.
Vegas in the summer is very warm. Some might say it’s damnned hot, but they’re sissies. The warm (hot) weather keeps many from visiting Vegas but that is ok. Summer is already the busy season and the business is not needed then.
This is a secret that the Chamber of Commerce doesn’t want you to know.

Good night…..I’m going to Vegas.

It must have scared me Neuro. My 11 day-out appt. finally comes up and he decides not to come in.....must be afraid of denting his BMW!

Have a great day all. Since I can't see the doc, and it is freezing rain, it's time to crank some tunes and drink a few beers!!,

I thought you said God's country Thomas - I never knew you lived in the great southern land.

I certainly remember them closing the schools due to heat - If the temp was over 45 degrees for four straight days - you get the fifth one free!!

You're all probably thinking "so what?" well 45 degrees in your measure is 113 degrees - try that in an un-airconditioned school for four days straight and try telling me how rough you had it  (oh and by the way, Perth Western Australia gets to that pretty much every summer)

no idea what a blizzard feels like though, in fact the temps that I've been speaking of are normal Christmas temps - yet we still put fake snow on the flipin' trees! :P)

in my blizzard-ignorance, all that snow sounds like fun [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I hate this shit...could you guys and gals please say a big prayer for this nurse about now? I worked 17 hours straight running a high fever sunday and monday....and they tried to refuse to let me go home..Said all they had to do is feed me and let me sleep four hours and then they could put me back on the floor...then my supervisor came in and hit the roof cause i had a fever and did not have my chs meds with me....i finally got home and slept 18 hours...now I am getting ready to go back to work and probably work 16 hours more....atleast i only have a low grade fever now...I hate the ice...I hate the nursing shortage..I hate the power shortages my fellow nurses and neighbors are suffering and I hate being sick and working....enough whining....hope all of you are well and warm  ;;D....Maybe i should have been a garbage collector, atleast they got some time off.  ::)  Heck, I bet Brian even got the day off. Nope, I did not get the WHOLE day off.  Peeps need money after all.

I did get to leave early, however, cuz the whiners all whined in their puny little voices about "getting home safely".   :'(    I eat the weak for breakfast.

But after the whole goddamn place cleared out and there was no one left for me to yell at, well, I went on home.  I drank many, many beers and shook my head at the stupidity of the human race.

O, and in case you were wondering, Goofy's Pizza in Elgin is closed.  They said so on the news announcing closings.  Does this TELL you what I go thru?  Does it?!!

Because didn't you know that Jarret is being controlled by the Bush Adminsistration?  His Subways remain open becuase Dick Cheney told him he would pull his nose hairs out one by I-used-to-be-a-fat-swine one if they did not.

I (yes, me) control the banks.  Your being forced to use your credit card and not that archaic CASH bullshit has allowed us to pay down the deficit a little bit more (IF you make your payments on time which I see you do...Bwa-ha ha ha hhaaaaaaaa).

Nazis from Saturn have stolen my wallet!!!
