Fuckin' pink-lung. LOL! They say don't even have one. You're either a smoker or a non-smoker, and a non-smoker doesn't smoke even one. Good luck, brother.

Great job sweetie.  Now just keep it up.  The nicotine is out of your system.  You just have to keep your hands busy. (Jonny be nice.  [smiley=sgrin.gif])  I still constantly chew on tooth picks even after 8 years of being smoke free.

Keep with it!  Like was said earlier, you either do or don't smoke.  No in between.  I know.  I'm going on 3 years coming up in February.  I smoked for 24 years before that.  It CAN be done.  Hang in there.

Put the money you would have spent on smokes in a glass jar and put that someplace very visible.  Every time you think about smoking a cigarette, look at the jar and think about whatever toy/trip/car/etc. you've been thinking about and how soon you'll be able to get it/do it. ;;D

Worked for me!  When my wife quit, we saved close to $400/mo.  That's a car payment (well, a small or used car, anyway).  It made the difference in being able to afford the mortgage on our new house.

Oh, I did the Zyban thing, too.  That helped quite a bit.

Good luck!  That's a hell of a monkey to get off your back.  Congrats on the 10 days.  Your system is clean.  Now it's all mental.

Nice going Thomas. I smoked for 16 years. It took me two tries but I quit in 1980. I did it by staying out of the pub for four months because every time I went there they tried to get me to smoke......bastards. I didn't do much drinking for that time even at home.

Very very good going and one of the best things is that it's much less complicated without it.  8)

I pretty much quit drinking. Even on the few occasions where I had my mind set I was gonna get 'liqoured up,' like new years - I drank, but I dunno. I think I've lost my taste for it.

As for smoking - been batling it for over a year trying to quit. What is funny is, after stopping for a couple of weeks beginning Dec 8th '02, now I smoke TWICE as much as I used to. In fact, I quit 'again' last thursday. How am I doing? LOL - getting ready to light one up!

Good luck to all who attempt to lick smoking. I know I wil, I just hope it isn't forced - like, I quit when I can't breathe anymore.

Peace,
Carl D

26 years smoke free.  For me it was never about the money. When my first kid was born I wanted to make sure he never smoked and I figured that setting a good example was the best way. Both my kids always hated the thought of smoking so it worked.

Cold turkey was too hard for me so I take my hat off to anyone who does it that way and sticks with it.

I used the taper down method to quit over at least a 3 month period. First I cut out the first one of the day when you get up with coffee smoke, then waited until after 10am, then 11am etc until I was on only after dinner smokes for a long time, then just the odd one every few days then finally quit.

21 days booze free, but only because I was back in cycle. I am 99% sure I broke the bastards back now so look forward to my first beer after a month at the end of January   :P

Just goes to show that I have absolutely NO will power regarding this issue ;;D.
Last time I talked to the doctor about it he actually told me NOT to quit. He said with all the anxiety, CH , and depression it would only make things worse.

Oh well, I reckon its better than the alternative, which would be "please stop me before I kill again"
