Title: First time here...Looking for answers Post by SAMIAM1129 on Mar 27th, 2003, 11:51pm I found this website and I'm hoping it can give me some information. I've battled with migraines for many years but I have NEVER experienced ANYTHING like I have lately. Just over two weeks ago I was driving in my car when I experienced the worst pain EVER! It came out of nowhere and hit me like a ton of bricks! I pulled over, grabbed the back of my head and started screaming and crying. The pain was so intense and it was throbing with my pulse rate and my vision would go blurry with my pulse rate. It was almost like I could hear the pain throbing in my head (Does that make any sense?) After about 10 minutes of sitting on the side of the road the pain seemed to dimish so I continued on and I got to where I was going, after getting out of my car the pain returned and brought me to my knees in the parking lot of my friends apartment building. After getting up to my friends apartment the pain was so intense I thought my head was going to EXPLODE! Again with the pounding and blurry vision. This went on for about 20-30 minutes and then it was gone. I mean...COMPLETELY gone. By this time I'm REALLY freaked out. I got back in my car (Taking advantage of this pain-free moment) and headed for the doctors office. I didn't get far when it came back again. I SWEAR each time it comes back it's like it's stronger. By the time I got to the doctors office I could barely hold my head up. They did some routine tests and told me they wanted me to go to the hospital for a CAT scan and a spinal tap. After getting there, the pain returned again. The nurse hooked me up with a morphine IV and it didn't really help. I mean it dulled it a bit but didn't give me the relief I was hoping for. Well, my CAT scan and Spinal Tap both came back normal so they gave me a prescription for Naproxin and one for a Triptilyn to help me sleep. The Naproxin wasn't giving me any relief but I stayed with it for a few days hoping it would finally kick in. I couldn't take the Triptilyn they gave me during the week because they knocked me out BIG TIME! I couldn't get up the next morning. But if I didn't take it I would be awakened in the night by the pain and get littleof no sleep. Welll, her I am two weeks later and I'm still no better. I have non-stop pain EVERYDAY. It's bad in the morning, it dies off in the afternoon then comes back with a vengance in the evening. I'm on Darvocette and the Triptilyn's now. The Darvocette helps calm me down for the sleeping pills to kick in so I can get some sleep (Obviously, I haven't taken one tonight cuz I'm sitting here typing at 11:20 PM). The doctors have me scheduled for a MRI & MRA next week. But the still haven't told me what's wrong with me. Does this scenario sound familiar to anyone? Please help! I just want some straight answers and have this pain stop. I just want my life back the way it used to be before all this started happening. |

Title: Re: First time here...Looking for answers Post by don on Mar 28th, 2003, 12:12am One thing none here can do is diagnose you although some will try. Research the hell out of this site and the OUCH site (button on left) and come to your own conclusion. Take the cluster quiz to the left. Post back when you have come to some conclusions or have questions about the imformation you can find here. |

Title: Re: First time here...Looking for answers Post by Jarvis on Mar 28th, 2003, 12:14am Sam - yes this does have a familiar ring in the method of attack. Do not accept anything for granted untill you have had a complete neurological checkout. Your descriptions ie; back of head, pulsating, blurred vision do not sound like clusters at first glance. If you find they are not clusters then you have experienced the second worse pain ever. Maybe you could describe the attacks a little better after reading some of the info to the side if you havent allready..Take the cluster quiz and read all you can here and on the ouch site. There are many here that can help better than I. |
