Title: O 2 advice Post by achinghead on Mar 12th, 2003, 5:50am I see alot of posts saying 02 helps. can you tell me more about how you use it, meaning.. do you use it on the onset? how long it takes to bring the monster to grips.. I know alot of my CH's are to a k-10 in a matter of minutes.. The imitrex knocks em out in about 10 but of course I can only afford so many after my alloted 2 per month. Im considering the 0-2 but want to make sure its worth it and that it will work under a K-10.. been up most of the nite fighting it and the other as mentioned in my previous post.. THANKS |

Title: Re: O 2 advice Post by Frank on Mar 12th, 2003, 8:54am I use O2 at 8 litres per minute with a non-rebreather mask. If I use it at the onset of an attack or soon thereafter, it usually knocks out the headache within 5 to 10 minutes. If I am already at Kip-10 it doesn't help. O2 is covered 100% by my HMO. |

Title: Re: O 2 advice Post by Kcir on Mar 12th, 2003, 9:57am Hello Achinghead, The only thing I use to control my CH is O2 and it work every time. I start at K2 or 3 if I'm awake and can get to the oxygen, however when it wakes me at 2:00am with a K9 the first breath of O2 will reduce the pain and eliminate it in five minutes. I get the best results by putting the plastic tube directly in my mouth and turning the regulator up to inhale at a fairly fast rate, when my lungs are full I turn the regulator off. This way I know I'm getting 100% O2 and not wasting any of it. Several years ago I got tired of fighting with the insurance company so I got my own tank and regulator. It only costs me $8.50 to refill the bottle and will last a week or so even when I in one of my worst cycles. (like now) You should try the O2!!!! It was a lifesaver for me and many others. Good luck Rick T |
