We've all hit a blank wall on our new puppy's name, and she's arriving tonight.

Any and all help will be appreciated......she's a female Australian Shepard, 8 wks. old.

My family thinks the clusterhead family should name her.....(they liked all the bloodthirsty responses! ;))

probably not a good name though, might make ya want to kick her and we don't want any of that..........

Having had a few dogs of my own the only name I can come up with is TROUBLE.....and being a female what else can you call her.

I like the name TROUBLE too but someone beat me to it...good choice !! You could call her by the neighbors first name....jus jokein....juuuuus jokein....I always liked the names Max or Joey myself....(I love the movie Mad Max so what can I say)......I never worried to much if they were males or females with those names......now Butch I would. I always had pets named Toby to which is nuther favorite cute-sy ...Pam-that-likes-trouble-best ;D

Wait a couple of weeks and watch the dogs behavior and social interaction. Im sure then alot of possible names will come to you.

Never been too creative on naming the pets. We have 7 cats outside, ones named suzy the other 6 are named joe. Little joe, big joe, medium joe, ugly joe and the brothers joe. ... . Had an incredible wolf dog named Jack. Jack met his demise the same way your dog did, I found him with a bullet through him. Our current friend and champion shepherd is named Boonedog since we live in the boonies. Generally goes by the name butthead though. ... . For you I suggest the dog be named Roxy 2 or "Lonesome", just cause thats what it feels like at times when you lose a friend like your last dog. .. . Besides the dogs gonna be so lonesome at first, gonna howl and whine all night. Butthead works too.

Had a pup i named meathead once.. you should have seen the looks on the neighbors face when I called him in for the first time!!! I loved that dog!!

I like "Phoebe." It's the name of the furball I dogsit now and then.

My cousin named her for the "Phoebe Snow" which was the name of the express passenger train between New York and Chicago on the Erie RR. And I tought I had problems...... :o

I don't know if I would be any help...I have a 130LB male Rottweiler named Roi. We call him Roy...but I'm told that Roi means king in french. Roi thinks he's a tiny lap dog though....definite identity crisis going on.

My friend has a dog named Maggy...I've always like that name for a female. Just another suggestion.

T-Wrecks: short for Two wrecks (one coming, one going)
that's what my father named his chocolate lab

I always liked the name Belle for a female dog but was always out voted by the family.

But you really can't name them until you see their personality.

Once knew a Rhodesian Ridgeback named "Misha" - always like that name....once knew a Weimeranger named "Ingy" (In-Gee).....Best wishes with the little mess maker :D

"Echo" -- dogs usually can't stop at a single bark. And it's much shorter than "Yardcrapper".

Whatever name, remember that the true test is to stand on your front step and yell the name, repeatedly, at the top of your lungs. If you don't get arrested, attacked, groped or feel like an idiot -- you've got a winner.

Rox,

Glad to hear things are lookin' up for you. I only have a couple of requirements for dog names.

1. It's gotta be short enough that the dog understands you're talking to 'em. (one syllable is best)
2. Gotta have a "hard" consonant so that you can really bellow it when they're messing up.

I'll add a new one to your list ... GRACE. As in Grace under fire. We were gonna name our Lab that, but got a male instead. I guess that wouldn’t bother one of my office mates, he has a couple of female dogs and insisted on naming them Freddy & Larry. Go figure.

The new puppy arrived last night.....she is just too cute and sweet. Wish I knew how to get a picture up here.

The debate on the name is still continuing (raging would be a better description)....right now it's 'hey you'. All the names suggested are already in the mix except for butthead (that's what my daughter calls her brother...so we'd get confused there), and Bear (that's what my rott that the same neighbor poisoned was named).

I'll keep ya posted on the arguments!!!!! ;D

::)...I've read all the names and think 'Cluster' is the best....if you ever hear your neighbour question why the dog's named cluster you can just smack him in the head with a shovel and poke his eye out with an ice pick...you know, just to give him a clue...LOL ;D

8 weeks?? she's big.. right? Chloe was a tiny thing at 8 weeks. or is she just FLUFFY? mine's not fluffy.. :-[

Now, I dont know about the name Cluster.. I think of the Cluster as the BEAST, EVIL... bad.. something I want to AVOID ... not a PUPPY that you're supposed to love, and who loves you. The cluster does not love.

Zoie - that's a good name for her.. she LOOKS like a ZOI!! ;D

are her eyes really that color, or is that just the pic??

My Grandmother had a cat (all her cats, not at one time but) anyway her cat's name was psssppssppspsp It all ways answered. Eileen

She is lovely!!! This pup looks very "Queenly" to me :) Regal and composed (very unlike our Tink the Terror ;D), whose appearance brings to mind finger in the socket :o Zoe or Chloe is my vote. :)

I like Zoe...but, that name's already taken by a friend. Our English Mastiff is already called Cleo. The kids said they would prefer to not ever think about cluster's if they don't have to, so the name cluster was out.

So....they named her after a beer....go figure!

They named her Zeigon (after Zeigonbock...my son's preferred choice of beer).....it was immediately shortened to Ziggy. She does seem to zig and zag everywhere.

Two days and no accidents in the house....we're on a roll here!

Hi Roxy

I got in on this post way too late!

I am so envious of you getting a new puppy. I love the Australian Sheepdog. It has a great nature and is very intelligent. I am looking for one myself as a companion for my 3 year old Belgian Shepherd Cora. She is jet black, very bright and energetic. We have done the obedience and defense training which was worth the effort. She is my constant companion when at home and keeps me fit.
