I was just informed by cathip that our "oneeye" and her family has endured a three alarm fire at their house today. I do not know the extent of the material damages, but the emotional distress must be great.

Let's all send her the love, prayes, vibes and support she needs to help her get through these trying times.

Nancy....as long as ya'll are okay..everything else can be fixed or replaced. If you need anything....you have my number, so please use it. I am so sorry this had to happen....especially when things haven't been the greatest lately (well, except for that baby!)

Stop the three alarm fire. LOL. We did have a three alarm fire, but only because each boro around us only owns ONE fire truck each. All three boro's responded to the chimney fire we had today. It did scare the living crap out of me as I couldn't get my husband out of bed after I called 911. We had flames coming out of the top of the chimney ... and the whole fireplace wall was hot as he-double toothpicks !!! Woke my husband up three times .... yelling, "I have called 911 ... get your ass out of bed NOW and get outside". Well, I got the dog out then came back in for him. LOL ... guess you know who I love best now. Just kidding ... it was just smokey as all getout inside and my heart was a racing ... and poor hubby with all the meds he is taking was just so out of it. Next time I will know to just open the door for the dog, and carry hubby out !!! Anyways, after they dumped a bunch of chemical stuff down my chimney, opened all my windows to let out the smoke ... and we had frozen our as*ses off for about 2 hours ... they started packing up. I'm suppose to check the fireplace wall every hour to make sure that it don't get hot again every hour for the next 8 hours .... but other than that .... all is well here. Of course, we won't be snuggling up in front of a fire tonight. Can't use the fireplace till we have it inspected for damages.

Ahhhhhhh .... life is great ain't it ??? LOL .... hey, and NO headaches the whole time. Who says stress can't keep them away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care all !!!

And for those of you that want to tell me to have my chimney cleaned once in awhile .... well, had it done last year .... I'm trying to find the receipt ... cause I am pissed.

Glad you all are ok nanc...sheww !!! We've had at least 3 chimmney fires here....two were the old metal pipe.....don't have a good enuff draft down here and creosode builds up plus not havein hot enuff fires. Then when the new block chimmney did the same they told us the mortor or whatever between the block can crack and cause heat to get to the house cuz it isn't sealed like it was. So we now have a junk new block chimmney...so much for haveing a brother in law masonary do the work for us....he made a few mistakes ! I used to have my own chimney sweep business...some folks trusted me...became sort of an expert...if ya have any questions, I'm at yer disposal.

A chimney fire can do no damage or be catastrophic. Lot of factors involved.

Like any other wierd trade....it can be a racket...some folks put on a tophat and take you to the cleaners.

???Well, Nan, the message you left on my cell phone SAID a 3 alarm fire.....I tried to call ya back...you were on the phone...soooo, I called my man, Echo- told him the scoop,asked him to post for me....and he did!Sheesh!! Ya coulda told me you were both okay...all this while I was with clients, no less!! Yarrrggghhh!
I am so happy to hear the house stands, Red & Max survived, and you live to get into another pickle, another day......LATER, please....now, can ya just try for some totally uneventful days!!
Now, get the furnace working, then get the chimney inspected, wouldja please???
Think I'll call a chimney sweep.....tomorrow, first thing.
Oh, and I am soo glad it was only a 3-alarm fire ::) ::)

Smoke inhalation—no clusterheadaches--….Hmmmm….sounds like you might be on to something here!! Have you contacted Dr. Diamond yet?

Looks like you have one big hassle on you hands, but glad that everyone is OK.

So glad that things weren't any worse than that!

We have a woodstove at our house, and chimney fires really concern me...I have mine cleaned every year.

Doesn't sound like what you had to deal with was much fun, but at least everyone's okay and your house is still standing. :)

Ok ... here is the beef. LOL, cause my life is just one great big roller coaster ride again ... but we are dealing and that is all that matters. But I will give you all the scoop ...

The baby -
The baby is soooo friggin cute I can't stand it. He is having a problem with the jaundice so if that don't improve soon they will put him in the hospital. They are gonna give him another 2 - 4 days .... In the mean time, he is my STARWARS warrior. He has this nifty belt that shoots electric rays everywhere and he looks so cool wearing it. He doesn't seem to mind wearing it but it makes it hard to move anywhere as the cord is only about 3' long that attaches him to the machine he needs to be on. Hopefully that will all work itself out. Not uncommon for a preme to have jaundice. He's been on the machine for three days now .... and we are just kind of waiting. He has dropped down 1.5 points but has quite a ways to go yet ... like I said, praying and a waiting.

Hubby -
Hubby was doing really great for about a week ... then kind of went south with this last shot. We are getting used to that though and hopefully come next Christmas the treatments will be over and life will once again return to normal (hoping and a praying again). In the meantime ya fight every day, and really SMILE BIG TIME when you have a good day. Sorry I didn't get to post about what a great week he had ... was kind of busy getting excited about the baby. But he did have a really good week and we smiled alot !!!!! It had been quite a while since he felt good .... so those few days did wonders for our spirits. But you know me, I am greedy so I am looking for a few more good days !!!! LOL

The fire -
The fire. Well, kind of smells like smoke. But hey, I smoke so who the hell cares. Cracked the liner in the chimney, need to wash some stuff down, you know the drill. Gotta get a few more things checked out, but hey ... material goods, you can't take em with ya so who cares. The insurance company is already giving us shit about it being our fault .... we'll see who wins that fight. Quite frankly, I have bigger fish to fry in my life. Don't really care. Got the furnace fixed and we have heat so screw the fireplace.

Insurance -
Ah here is the REALLY GOOD NEWS ..... got approved for Red's disabiltiy through his work so we will once again (sometime soon) have an income from him. Gotta love it when something goes right !!!! He was sooooo happy about this. It sucks being really sick and having to jump through hoops to get what you have paid for ... but sometimes ... ah, it just all works out. SSI disability is still pending but that is ok. Even if we don't get that ... hey, we got something through his work.

Headaches -
I almost forget what it is like to get one. I think it was Bob G that told me ... stay stressed and never sleep. Well, Bob, I FRIGGIN THINK IT WORKS !!!!!! If anyone wants to move in with me .... hey .... just send me a PM, I'll give ya the address .... we can provide the stress here !!! LOL.
