Picture taken on USS Missouri during filming of "Under Siege". They wanted to take care of Saddam in 1992...Then we wouldn't be in this mess...Actually it was 1991. My memory's gettin' fuzzy...GWS Jim |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Ted on Mar 2nd, 2003, 8:58am Does this soldier have a name? Are you sure you just didn't happen across the website that has this picture on it and post it? Hmmmmm. Nope. I never said the war in Afghanistan was bullshit. I don't remember Charlie saying it either. I don't know who this "nik" guy you're talking about is but maybe he/she did? Now, this war in Iraq, on the other hand... Sooooo. I guess since you're home you're one of those girl thingys and not a real man? By the way, I also don't remember any of us knocking any of the troops, though you seem to interpret it like that often for some bizarre reason. Hello. |

Right on, Ted! Also, how people interpret 9/11 & Al Queda with Iraq is beyond me also. There may be Al Queda in Iraq...but their also in just about every other country, too. P.S. C.B...Watch the pixels, man.... Jim |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Charlie on Mar 3rd, 2003, 12:42am Can you imagine what America Firsters, German-American Bunds, Republican pacifist sissies, Charles Lindberg, Henry Ford, (and his Dearborn Independent‘s: “International Jew”) would have done in the late 1930s and 1940s if the internet were around? These powerful men, who considered FDR and his cabinet, war mongers, would have made stuff like “Liberal Pussies“ posters seem like child’s play. Good thing it wasn’t around. Charlie |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Charlie on Mar 3rd, 2003, 6:07am Just to keep things straight, I never said what we did in Afghanistan was wrong. On the whole, I think we did rather well but they overdo the secrecy. It pisses me off. Should this war begin, and it almost certainly will, since Dubya and company won’t be happy any other way, the army has my full support. I do not think protesting is very productive once troops are committed. It may endanger them so anything I’d have to say would be confined to the op-ed pages. It’s Bush that makes me sick. It’s going to take many years to undo the damage his administration is doing to the country. It has little to do with Iraq, by the way. Peace, love, dope. Charlie |

Hey Charlie, you left a name off your list: Vannever Bush, Geogrge W's grandaddy, was trading with the Nazis long after he should have stopped. And Grandson Bush does want us to confuse Afghanistan and Iraq, Osama and Saddam... Peace, Love and Dope (well, shrooms, anyway) to you too, Charlie. -tommyD (ain't shuttin' up, either) |

All thse messages being brought to you by the White House Propoganda Machine. We are at war with Iraq. We have always been at war with Irag. War is peace. Paraphrased from 1984. Sheep. |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Hound_Dogg on Mar 3rd, 2003, 11:32am The war on terrorism is going on now! How is America doing?... There are 37 members of Al Queda on the Most Wanted Terrorist list. Since 9/11, 7 have been killed by bombing and 9 have been captured. This leaves 21 still on the list. I think we are doing pretty good on the war on terrorism. Yeah, we still need to capture ( or kill) 21, but we are making progress. And I'm sure everyone on this board supports those troops. But this has nothing to do with Iraq. Just like we have no reason to go to war with Iraq in the name of terrorism. The war on terrorism cannot be fought on the battlefields, in one country...it needs to be fought the way it is being fought now. Through investigations and arrests. Jim |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Brian_Y on Mar 3rd, 2003, 12:27pm Agreed. The CIA can begin to earn their keep now. Finally. I suspect they've been rather bored since the Cold War ended. At any rate, equating that with the Iraq question (which, by its nature is a much more complex issue than the idiotc argument that it's about oil or the Bush family wantin' payback) is at best, ignorant and at worst, pernicious. The White House has done a good job keeping the public tilted to one side while they throw diplomacy out with the bathwater. Breeding ridiculous comments like "love it or leave it, blah blah blah"... Supporting men and women who place their lives on the line for others, however, was never and should never be questioned.... Deux Centavos.... |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Charlie on Mar 3rd, 2003, 7:13pm It's our job to question what the selected President does in the name of his dozen or so rich friends. However, once Dubya has been told that white always moves first, it's probably good to not get in the way for awhile. Hopefully our side won't lose too many pieces. Charlie |

Title: Re: This was sent to me from Afghanisftan Post by Kirk on Mar 3rd, 2003, 7:32pm What worries me most at the moment is the 15 SCUD missiles and cannisters of unknown chemicals that were delivered to Yemen from North Korea recently. Gives this former Marine an itch between the shoulder blades. |

OK. So just how will it preserve things or not if we do or don't send people off to catch a bullet in the gut to ensure your ability to sleep on silk sheets and a gossamer pillow? If this war doesn't happen will that be taken from you? |
