Title: Re: MADNESS Post by catlind on Feb 23rd, 2003, 10:03am Svenn my dear friend, Truer words were never spoken. No one wins in war. I will always support the men and women who are given the order to go - they are not the ones who make the war, they are the ones who are told to fight it. Lets hope that it's at least not a total loss to all involved. Cat |

Title: Re: MADNESS Post by marty on Feb 23rd, 2003, 12:14pm Svenn.. The number 1 count: I agree with you Number two: I do not agree. Since no other country seem to be willing and able to take a definate stand against terrorism (England excepted of course), I feel pretty fortunate to live in a country that will take that fight - werever it may lead. We lost so many lifes on 9-11 caused by religous fanatics, groups that believe that they can destroy what so many, since the founding of this Nation, have fought and died for; our freedom as a sovereign Nation and the freedoms enjoyed and guarrantied to its citizens. You have a point when you say that all of us, in the end, loose from war - but consider the consequences, how many will die and suffer (read loose) if nothing is done to leaders like Sadam Hussein. Title: Re: MADNESS Post by Silver_Dolphins on Feb 23rd, 2003, 4:40pm When you think that war is avoidable just remember the last times appeasment (sp) was tried. It has never worked before and will not work with the likes of SoDamn Insane. I am not a friend of Goerge W, voted for Gore, but I think that if he listens to his advisors on this issue we will be OK. There are winners in war. Ask the liberated jews, French, Dutch, Finns, et al from WWII. Ther are, unfortunately collateral (read that innocent) casualties like in Dresen, a necessary but brutal allied bombing in WWII. Hussein is a dangerous threat to mankind. A much bigger threat than Dubya could ever be. Dubya has congress, Saddam does as he wishes with no checks. Kill them before they kill you. |

Title: Re: MADNESS Post by netniet on Feb 24th, 2003, 3:51am there are no winners in war, not even the Dutch, Jews etc. afther war2. Europe was on fire, and nobody felt like a winner when the war was over. To many dead, millions of people lost family, friends etc. Many jews killed in camps, do you really believe they felt like winners ???. (not supporting this war, doesnt mean I don't support the troops, I don't support the goverments screaming for this war!!) They were glad the war was over, but there were no winners in Europe only loosers!!!! |

Title: Re: MADNESS Post by Charlie on Feb 24th, 2003, 5:37am That's one of those pictures like Surabachi. Unforgettable. Horrible what Lots of facets to the topic of what we did for Jews in the camps, one being that we were slow on the draw. Dresden: Collateral damage? Holy firebomb. To me, the biggest problem IS Bush's advisors. Killjoy old Charlie |

Title: Re: MADNESS Post by TomM on Feb 24th, 2003, 8:53am Charlie--Noteworthy that you bring up Suribachi. I'm reading "Flags of Our Fathers" written by the son of one brave corpsman who "had a little something to do with raising the flag". Rember this: not all the dead return home. "...Heavy rounds sent jeeps and armored tractors spinning into the air in fragments. Some Marines hit by these rounds were not just killed; their bodies cease to exist." That is harrowing and that is war. So, kill them before they kill you is harsh and its implications are longterm. Dubya is a putz but NOT a cowboy. He's a FRAT boy who's rich daddy bought him everything. Now I have a better appreciation for George Bush, Sr. as president. TomM |
