Title: when it all started Post by Lola on Feb 14th, 2003, 2:55am I was wondering if anyone out there started getting these headaches when they were toddlers? |

Title: Re: when it all started Post by suzy617 on Feb 14th, 2003, 6:55am Geez, a toddler, how horrifying could that be? I've never heard of that and also I think it would be too difficult to diagnose at that young age. Hope you arent one of them. ??? Welcome to the board, suzy |

Title: Re: when it all started Post by kim on Feb 14th, 2003, 7:19am Hard to tell. I will tell you this. When I was around 5 yrs old, I had repeated "episodes" (I REMEMBER them). I would lay at the foot of my bed holding the bed posts and SCREAM in agony. Finally my mother would come in and give me that cough medicine with the codeine in it, and after a while the pain would "drain" away. This happened a bunch of times. Not just once. At the time they (parents and doc) chalked it up to "earache". When you are that little (and given the lack of experience with clusters) it is hard to gage. All I know is that I distinctly remember those episodes and can recall EXTREME PAIN on one side of my head and face. I can recall what I was doing during those episodes. I am 42 years old now. I've thought about it a lot. |

Title: Re: when it all started Post by JDH on Feb 14th, 2003, 8:25am I can't even imagine a kid having to deal with this crap. How unfair is that? Leave our kids alone! Me? I don't remember the beast introducing himself to me until I was about 27 and he's stuck around on and off ever since...about 18 years. |

Title: Re: when it all started Post by fubar on Feb 14th, 2003, 11:23am I swear I thought my daughter (10 yrs) was having a cluster last month. It went away and hasn't come back... fingers crossed, but oh man, the feeling of guilt (having possibly passed on my wonderful condition) -Fu |

Title: Re: when it all started Post by Lola on Feb 14th, 2003, 6:54pm I was curious because the two striking differences i have with others diagnosed with cluster headaches is that i've had them since i was little and that they make me puke. But every thing else is scarily right on. When i was a kid i use to call them my eye aches. My mom told me she use to just rock me while i cried and held the right side of my head. When i was 12 they diagnosed me with tension headaches until they found out i woke up from sleep with them and then they said they weren't sure. I can't remember a time in my life without these and when i get them i can't belive i'v live this long. But the lucky thing is i don't get them as often now like i did when i was a kid. Just random attacks during the night a couple times a month. Well, thanks for listening to my sob story. It's exciting(and sad) that others know how it is. By the way, does anyone else fantisize about pulling their molars on the right side out with a pair of pliers when they get attacked? And does blowing the clogged nostril make you wanna pass out from pain? |
