Title: Update on Ounce.
Post by Brassbear on Feb 8th, 2003, 5:13pm
Thought I would give you all the latest. Mary goes in for surgery at 0830 on Wed 12 Feb. They are doing a total hysterectomy. The doctor does not think that it's cancer but he will not rule it out at this point. A biopsy will be done while she is still in the operating room to make sure.

The beast gave me 5 full days and nights of peace. That was sweet. Now she's back in full battle gear. Oh joy.

Sorry for the hit and miss but this is keeping us a bit busy right now.

We'll be back on the board like our old selves after we get through this. When we are not suffering we choose to be here for the rest of  you.

Thanks for all the prayers, positive energy and good vibes that all of you have sent. It DOES make a difference.

Michael

My thoughts are with ya'll.  Hope the surgery goes smoothly, and that all turns out well.

Make sure that doc has a big syringe of hormones waiting for her when she wakes up....hehehehe!!

Both of you take care,

Tracey

Michael,

Good luck to the two of you on the surgery.  Before she's has the hysterectomy done, make sure does as much research ase possible on HRT.  For me it was worse than going with nothing.  All I take is calcium and that's it.  Some of the long term risks they've discovered with HRT is breast cancer and heart disease.  Both those risks are significantly increased, so if she has to use the HRT, (and I'm no doctor) I would recommend she only use it for 6 months.

She can go to this site for support
www.hystersisters.com

There is a chat and MB there that can help her immensely with understanding the magnitude of the surgery and support her through it.

Hi Michael, Thanks for posting to let us know how things are going. I Hope all goes well with Mary, I will be thinking of her.
I guess the HRT thing is different for everyone. I found that it almost saved my life. Been on it for almost 9 years now and do not have a choice but to stay on it.
Looking forward to you guys coming back to us where you belong....

Thanks to all for the good thoughts and vibes , it truly makes this easier to go through. As for hrt , that is what started most of this mess , they started me on hrt and really screwed me up. I had started "THE CHANGE" and started hrt  and my body went nuts so I will probably just tough it out. I kinda like the hot flashes for now  , don't have to turn on the furnace but summertime may be a different story , just have to wait and see what the doc says to do.

I am not really worried about me , it's Michael that has me concerned. So please think of him and send happy thoughts for him too .

Mary
