Title: New to the site and searching for advice
Post by chantley on Feb 1st, 2003, 10:48am
    Hello.
I am new to this site and to cluster headaches, but very old to migraines with all auras.
I was wondering if anyone else out there has an automatic wake-up time---mine is between 2:30am and 3:30am. When I wake up I am hot and I begin to sweat.  I usually can't fall back to sleep and this disruption in sleep pattern triggers my migraines along with the cluster headaches. I can't take the standard drugs like Imitrex or Maxalt--nothing over the counter either. This sucks!
Another problem of mine is reading. I can't read. The pain is too great. My eyes are fine as far as the opthomalogist at Mayo Clinic says, yet to read over what I have just written is just horrilbe.
          Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,
    ---Chantley

chantley - welcome. Clusters are not migraines. While many of the treatments are the same, many cluster sufferers respond well to oxygen, triptans and calcium channel blockers (like Verapamil).
Explore this site and read up. The OUCH website also contains an extensive library of information. When you're done, you'll know more about CH than most doctors.
Good luck
