We have 3 options for the convention banquet.

1) Dinner in the restaurant buffet style with assorted cold salads and rolls, baked potato, maple glazed carrots, stuffed shells, roasted chicken in cajun cream sauce, baked haddock with a lemon-herb sauce, roast beef, and dessert.

2) Poolside/Terrace outdoors, with barbecued chicken quarters, italian sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers, sauteed peppers and onions, corn on the cob, baked beans, two fresh salads, fresh fruit and coffee or tea.

3) Chartered private party Dinner/cocktail cruise with live entertainment or disc jockey for dancing (fully licensed) with both closed windowed and open decks for the smokers.

The food I've listed is just the standard that is provided, it of course is very changeable. I just want to get an idea of what everyone would like to do, be it a casual meal on the terrace, a restaurant banquet style, or a twilight cruise through the 1000 islands with dinner and cocktails and dancing.

My vote is for poolside bar-b-que. This group doesn't know what to do with a table that has a tablecloth on it.

If I was in an active cluster bout, I'd be leary of being trapped on a cruise. I'd rather be where I could make for my room if needed.

I think the poolside/bbq would be the right setting for our first time convention-goers, meeting new clusterheads for maybe the first time. We have a lot to say to each other.

You've really gone all- out already. You're giving us some really good choices Thanks for what you are doing now and to come.........wish, really wish I could help.

We spent most of our time in Vancouver sitting under the umbrellas talkin and smokin :)

Bob EXCELLENT point to consider. I hadn't even thought of that, and I am in cycle from July - October.
Doh!

Okay, I think the cruise then will definitely be ruled out as a planned function of the banquet. That doesn't mean that folks can't take the cruise if they want to, it's open to everyone several times a day with several different cruise choices. The resort can book the cruise for anyone who wants it and you just walk down to the docks in Alex Bay.

I personally favour the outdoor terrace/poolside casual meal where we can all sit and drink and smoke and chat and not worry about disturbing other diners. We would be out there on our own, no other patrons :)

Glad you pointed that one out to me Bob, I would never have thought of it.

The BBQ poolside deal does sound best 'fer all considerin'....even tho the other options sound awesome....man I never heard of such an awesome convention package....is President Bush gonna be there ?? Yer plans are kick ass kewl !!!! Pam :D

Poolside it is, only one thing: does everybody like bbq's? I don't eat meat much, f'r instance. Could there be a vegetarian alternative - just testing.

Ave, there's 2 fresh salads, corn on the cob and baked beans that go with the standard poolside menu. Things can be added, and anyone can order whatever they want from the menu as well.

Poolside souds good to me too Cat...but what if it rains? Is there a place for us to go, or a big tent we can sit under? You know how fickle the weather can be. Just a thought.

I keep seeing posts about this, but lost track... ya know what would be nice? A sticky thread at the top with details, maybe some links to travel sites and stuff too.

I'll volunteer to make it but I'm clueless ont the details.

I vote poolside only if the resort provides tubes with big rubber ducky heads.
