Thank you for all the birthday wishes!

Man, with Jonny standing up for Den and me standing up for Georgia, this marriage is off to a rockin start.

I hear BobP is a Reverend - internet ordained, to boot!!  It's only right that he do the deed.  Who ya gonna get for ushers?  Hub, Jack, Drummer and Paco?  These wedding guests better be behaving!!

Congratulations, kids - Adam's one lucky lil dude to be getting Georgia for a step-mom!  :)

OK, so it's settled, our first ever Convention Wedding.  Now all we need is for CATLIND to get the hosting job because that's where GEORGIA hails from....<hint, hint> not that we are trying to influence the convention decision or anything....

Post by Georgia on Dec 29th, 2002, 7:27pm
Wow. I am just in shock here. "Pick a date" was hard enough I thought...now I have to pick where and how and what I wear and what I say and...I never was one of those girls who had it all planned out since age 4. Den says I can have anything I want...which makes it even harder.  All I have are a few simple requirements... 1) that I am bare foot and covered in glitter, 2) that there is a full symphony orchestra playing, 3) christmas lights...gotta have christmas lights, 4) and that I walk down the "aisle" to "Be Thou My Vision". Other than that...I am totally open for suggestions. I don't know that I want to do all the wedding stuff....like cakes and garter belts and something blue and dances and all that. I am just in total shock....have I said that yet? And yes, I am still smiling from ear to ear.

Cat - I went  to Boldt castle with my family last summer as a matter of fact. What was the story again....a husband built it all for his wife but then she died before she ever saw it and he never left it and died too soon after or something sad like that? Or was that some place else I am thinking about? It would be convenient for my family to have it in NY....they all live Upstate still....a few hours from there. I haven't even told them the news yet. I just don't know what to say right now. It sure sounds lovely...I really like the part where you plan it and arrange it all    and the part where all the ch'ers will be there. Ch is was brought us together...the first time Dennis and I ever met in person was at the OUCH convention in Atlanta. It sure does seem like a natural progression to get married at an OUCH convention, doesn't it? Dennis and Adam and I would have to fly up there....I don't know yet....I just don't know. I guess Den and I will have to talk about it and I guess I should likely talk to my folks about it too.

All I can say right now is....thank you, truly, thank you.

My cup runeth over.....

Peace and love and total, complete, and utter shock,
G

Title: Re: GEORGIA'S BIRTHDAY
Post by catlind on Dec 29th, 2002, 7:47pm
Georgia,

Yes, Boldt Castle was being built by George Boldt for his wife and love of his life Louise Boldt.  She was struck down with pneumonia I believe and died.  The telegram sent to the workers at the island simply said: Stop all construction, Louise is dead.

He never set foot on the island again.  He was building the castle for his wife and having the island made into the shape of a heart to show his love for his wife.  The entire castle and grounds are covered with hearts.

The Boldt family still lives in the area, they had a home on Wellesly Island as well and that's where he lived.  After Louise' death not another stone was moved on the island and he never again returned to it.  When it was sold to the 1000 island bridge authority for $1 the condition was that all proceeds from admittance go to restoration (the family insisted on that) and that the castle  not be refurbished beyond the level of finished construction when Louise died.

As for your requests:  Bare foot is easy, sparkles are even easier, the castle (1000islands bridge authority) provides electricity to the gazebo or the other locations that may be used so you can have your xmas lights, just say what color LOL.  White lights or colored ones.  I'm sure we can have "Be Thou My Vision" playing, and I can check around about the symphony.  I'd be willing to bet that the syracuse symphony or the kingston symphony might be able to do the job.  There's also the military orchestra.  Of everything you want the hardest would be the symphony, but all things can be over come.

The simplicity of the gazebo and the beauty of the surroundings make it that you don't need decorations or fancy stuff and it's your wedding so you call the shots, you don't want garters? No garters!  I've been to weddings where the attendants wore tuxes, girls in black and white and guys in white and blue.

You can have it as simple or as elaborate as you want it on the island, that's one nice thing about that location.

Then the reception can be held either at the convention resort or another on in the area.  There are multiple resorts there, and of course a casino LOL.

If you and Den decide you want to have your wedding at the convention, and the convention is decided to be held in upstate NY, then the work will be done and you can just direct!  This will be your's and Den's and Adam's day, so you call the shots and we will make sure it gets done!

I've done alot of weddings in my time, (being maid of honor 5 times teaches you alot LOL).  I've been in weddings that went from the top end all the way down to renting the tent and having the wedding out in the back yard of my g/f backyard!

Sit and talk it all over with Den and Adam and your family and let us know and we will dive in and get your wedding going!

Cat

Thanks...It's true....I have mastered the art of cuteness...don't ya just wanna eat me up?

In my next role I play a senile horny old fart that pays for a vehicle inspection sticker for a lonely, matronly 27 year old  chick's car which endears her to me and we both live cluelessly ever after. Romantic leads ARE my speciality.

Plans?....uh...I think that's one river I'm gonna definitely watch flow....mind you...it's not that I don't care...I just know when to stay out of the kitchen...(no chauvinistic reference which might demean babes intended).

Darling Dennis - MATRONLY?? What the hell is that supposed to mean?!  Here is what Webster's said "matronly" means:

1 a : a married woman usually marked by dignified maturity or social distinction b : a woman who supervises women or children (as in a school or police station) c : the chief officer in a women's organization
2 : a female animal kept for breeding

Am I to assume you were referring to door #2??  ;D

And yes, you are cute enough to be edible. Especially when you wear one of those adorable little outfits! (He wears the cutest little outfits I have ever seen. He says they are just clothes...but he looks so darn cute in them!! I will have to link some pics of those too.)

Riccardo - I don't understand what you are talking about? The wind blowing? A job? My obligation? What? It must be your English. Unless maybe, by some odd chance, you were talking about how he tries to get his blood flow redirected during an attack and how I have secretly been worried that maybe he is faking ch's just to get the treatment. Sometimes I wonder if he and Charlie and Dr Wright are getting a little too friendly, if you know what I mean. I guess what they do together could be called a job and maybe the wind blows at the same time? I just don't know, my subtle friend. (You really made me laugh right out loud, by the way!) Thank you!!

I just love this family too much!!

...see this is exactly why I liked the old board better. I want to reply to Brian Y's post directly as a seperate thread butt can't do it.

ellipsis...those lil dots (...) that I always use in all my writing...irritate some people. They are most certainly grammatically incorrect. Bad Den.

I use the same technique on stage between lines...they come out as "mmms" or "ahhhs" or throat clearings. Actually I am just trying to remember my next line.

I write like I think and talk. Some thoughts are complete unto themselves. Thus they get a "period" at the end like this one. Butt most of the time I am using a stream of unconsciousness which is non linear....more oval...more elliptical and full of pregnant pauses.

Pretentious? moi? Guilty as charged.

Drivel driven?...well... if you read the lines and in-between they can say anything you want them to.

....and I much prefer "smart ass" to "jackass"....butt feel free...and allow me to introduce you to my friend Jonny "Mule"...now theres a real jackass.

PS: thanks fer spinnin this thread away from "marriage"....i was gettin the willies.
