My name is Mandy Bennett. I have had cluster headaches for about 10 years now. I know there are people far worse off than I am, mine only last for a month or so every couple of years. I get by pretty darn well and I cope well pretty much most of the time. I am not here for support but in thanks. I was in Phoenix some time ago when I had an episode at the airport. My daughter, age 6 was with me. I was waiting for my connecting flight to land. It had been some time since I had one so I didn't have any medication with me. It began to build and build to an intolerable level. I have never had one hurt that bad in my life. I couldn't see or even think. My daughter was crying and I was crying and we had begun to attract quite a bit of attention. This gentleman came up and knelt in front of me and took my hand. I jerked it back and thought "OH God what now!". A very kind voice with a southern accent broke through the pain and asked me if I was having a cluster attack. All I could do was nod my head yes. He told me not to worry that a friend was there. He said he would be right back. He left for a moment then returned and sat beside my daughter and I. He kept telling her that it would be OK and not to be scared. He kept telling me, "be strong girl, your stronger than He is, It'll pass, it'll pass. After about 10 minutes " I think, I was in a fog" two other gentlemen appeared and started giving me some oxygen. The first man kept telling them that I needed a higher flow. They started to call for an ambulance but the gentleman told them it wasn't necessary, he told them that I would be OK in just a little while. That man sat there with me for around 45 minutes, he never left my side. He kept my daughter occupied and kept me safe. When the pain began to subside and I was beginning to get my wits back, he told me that his flight was about to leave but he would stay if I needed him to. I told him that it was easing off quite a bit and that I would be OK. He stood up and left. I never saw him again and i never got his name. He gave my daughter an ouch card but there was no name on it. I had forgotten until I found that card the other day. I cried at the remembrance of the kindness that this man gave me and my daughter. He was an angel looking over us. If this man is on this website (and you know who you are) I just want you to know how grateful I am.

OMG The warm Fuzzy's overwhelm me! Worst than Oprah LOL ;;D

The compassion from those that suffer "the most horrific pain known to man" to another unknown sufferer is remarkable. Only those that know this pain could reconize another during an attack.

Thanks for sharing your story Mandy. Very uplifting. And not very surprising. There are some amazing people around OUCH and this place. I'm very happy to hear they were there for you.

Hmmm... nice man....Suthin accent..........Phoenix...........wondering who this man might be as well! mandy, ther just might be a chance we can find this kind man.......who knows?

Mandy, thanks for sharing this amazing story. What are the odds of having another who knows what CH's are and to be there at that time to help you.
There is not one of us here that would not do the same thing if we came across a sufferer having an attack.
Whoever you are sir, my hat is off to you! ;)

I'm so far fortunate not to have suffered in public with these things, I can only guess how scary and disorientating they must be.

OH MY Mandy....that is one of the best stories I have EVER read. What are the odds? One clusterhead encountering another...at just the right time. Where and how he got the O2 to you is mind boggling!!!
