Just got a call from Tony.  (He had slipped out for a cigeratte)  


The surgery went perfect and he says he feels  good.  He's having a small amount of pain but only wanted a Tylenol.   He sounds just like always....that's a good sign   :).  They will release him tomorrow morning.

Thank you everyone for all of your support, prayers, vibes and general good wishes... you GUYS ROCK!!!!!


Surgery went off on time without a hitch. Allegheny General is a wonderful hospital and the staff was excellent. I can't say enough about them.

Aside from having a few hits after surgery everything went smoothly. (I still scratch my head wondering what these folks can't seem to understand about 02 at 15 LPM... I actually had to get out of bed to crank the regulator up all the way and when a nurse asked me why I was doing that I asked her if she could imagine what giving birth out of her left eye would feel like?... she didn't seem to have a sense of humor.


She cranked it down... I said thank you to appease her and politely and in a very restrained manner waited for her to leave... then I cranked it back up.


Just 4 hits... but the presence of 02 kept my anxiety level at a minimum...

The doctor who implanted the pacermaker was young enough to be my son... was extremely charismatic and in general I good egg. I will rate this experience up there with taking a small vacation... (well not really) but I have gone through worse.

It was fun this morning when the technician came in to adjust the pacemaker... I was able to watch the monitor as he cranked it up and lowered the pace rate in various sections of the heart... What a hoot... Of course I requested the little $40,000.00 unit that he was using to take home... I figured it would be fun to be able to crank up the blood flow for different occasions and decrease it during sleepy time... again... he failed to see the humor in that.

As far as restriction... I will not be attending and participating in the gay rodeo for at least 6 weeks and I've had to cancel all of my mud wrestling tour dates till after July.

Thank you all for the HUGE wave of love I felt flowing from you all the way into my shiny new pace maker.

  • Sorry the hospital folk didn't get your sense of humor.  Around here we're all just as sick as you.
  • Remind me never to go on vaction with you.
