ya i know!! rite now i still have 2000 BMW323ci, and it is still sweet looking and treating me well! right now i have been told i may be getting a company car, which would be a really sweet deal, considering my trip is 80 miles roundtrip per day! crossing my fingers!

I managed to *not* lay it down when I blew out a fork on a turn, but I ended up going right over a ditch and through a barbed wire fence onto the Livermore Site 300 (high explosive test site). That was the last time I rode that particular bike (coincidentally that was a Honda, V45 Magna).

Well I rode street bikes for years and never laid one down. But, I know I was just fortunate. Many riders better than I have laid them down. Be careful Lizzie, bikes are a dangerous thing. Remember, there is no such thing as a fender bender on a bike.

I've always been a fan of the Rebel, but that's just cause it's short enough for me to touch the ground without being on my tiptoes when stopped :)

Lizzie, either one would be a cool bike for you 8) We are not trying to scare you away from a motorcycle by telling you about laying it down or hitting a car or whatever, we just want you to be very careful.

As in this pic, Angie and I were cruising down a main street when this car cut right in front of us. (I will admit, I was speeding at the time) but still we hit hard and it could have been worse. We were dating at the time, 1980.

Just be careful and enjoy! ;)

Everyone should buy a Harley. (their stock stock has lost 1/2 it's price in the last year and I could really use the money).

I've picked some pebbles out of my arm when dirt biking but never laid the Fat Boy down. Have had it go over on a foot board but never all the way over.

Good for you ASB. They're a blast.

Made it through being cut off with much control and braking, took a
breather in a parking lot after that.
Taking a turn at 15 mph, there was tiny pea gravel spread out
over the street that was meant for the road shoulder, swerved right
out from under me and laid it down on the roll bar and pedal. Yeah,
like BobP tiny pebbles imbedded in my palms. Great time to have a
helmet covering the back of my head, still hurt though. Watch for
gravel on pavement at any speed.
Many years of great riding, g/f loved it. Beautiful bikes, Liz. Envious.

Sweet, Lizzie!!!

I rode a motorcycle for the first time last spring with one of my exboyfriends, and it was such a blast. In fact, after we broke up, I really really missed the motorcycle even more than I missed him, I think! haha

Someday I would love to get a sport bike, although my current boyfriend contends that they are far too dangerous. I don't think I'd be a wild rider, but I really do love the bikes!!

Timo's brother-in-law owns one of those (and no, I have no idea which one) and last Spring he took Timo with him to the very first ríde of the year. Timo told me that his BIL and sister have taken many tours with that bike -the last time we saw them, they were recalling fondly their trip to Italy.
Now they are wondering when to take their son (who turned two last week) for his first ride! ;)

I've been promised a ride as well, but I'm quessing it will take some time before that happends, but it's ok, I don't know what I'm missing. ;)

Take it from me that knows first hand, you want to wear a FULL FACE helmet....Why cover your head and not your chin?

I laid down to avoid a car and slid face first into a curb with my chin......Thank God I had a full face!

Liz, I just want to add to what Jonny said regarding a full face helmet. It saved me and Angie when we had a car cut in front of us. Buy a good one, our's were made by Bell Helmets.

It's a great helmet. Full face but pops up, and has a sun visor that's easy to put up and down too. Just have to figure out the whole don't-fog-up thing.....

Teresa followed me on my first ride (I was kinda chicken). She says: started out with wide turns (she didn't see me hit the grass....); needs to learn how to turn off the turn signal.

Lizzie, who's computer is being obnoxious so she's using Teresa's....

Lizzie, to keep your turns from going wide, just look at the spot that you want to turn to. The bike will go straight to that point. Your arms will automatically adjust to steer it to that point.
