Title: Just wondering?
Post by Jean on May 9th, 2008, 11:16am
Hey all,

I was just curious if most of you had met one another.  The way you all interact( support, joke ,kid, argue, and protect) it is as if you all have been friends forever!

One of my first impressions when beginning here.  There's a convention coming up, it'll get thicker.  ;)

Jump in anywhere, might get splashed but Chewy doesn't let go of his inflatables so easy and Hap wears his sandals in the pool, with socks.

Hi Jeannie!

Yes Jean, many of us know each other. We have been having yearly conventions for almost 10 years now. Many have visited each other and have become family. This year we will be meeting in Dallas in July. See threads about the Dallas Convention below. There are also a few clusterheads in the St. Louis area as well.

For me, everybody here is pretty much in the category of "good friends that I haven't yet met".  Most of that is my bad--but I intend to correct that one day.

On the other hand, I just got off the phone with a lovely lady from Texas, (who hasn't done a lot of bass fishing so far this year) , and that just made my whole day.  It probably made my whole week.     ;)

Best wishes,

George

Not just friends Jean, family. There is the strongest bond between us all and this place and the love here is truly magical - you'll find out! You just have to come along to a convention or a meet and greet! Clusterville is the best place on earth and the best bit is - where ever we are.. that's clusterville  :)

YEP.  I've been to all the conventions and met so many folks and lots of them over and over again.

There are get-togethers such as Davcon every January, and California has had two now..and last year we drove from No. California to Richmond, Va. for the convention and stopped to visit, Jimi and Ruthie in Kentucky, Gator & Jane in Oklahoma, Nani in New Mexico, JDH and midwest Beth(who are in St. Louis,  btw) and  Leesa and Dave in Tennessee.

Lots of us keep track of what's going on in each others life besides CH...AND, more than just a few have hooked up, married or met the man or woman of their dreams here.

I have to ditto what others have said.  We really are a family here.  And now you are too.  St. Louis isn't that far from Dallas, Jean.   ;) ;) ;)

I even run the "Clusterhead B&B" in England if you fancy a trip over Jean LOL You won't be the first clusterheads who have come to stay with me and mine and you won't be the last. I love it! I've been to conventions, meet and greets, hospital appointments, hospital VISITS.. the lot! On both sides of the pond at that.

Actually I think Im the only clusterhead to have cooked for clusterheads on both sides of the pond and despite the rumours - no one has died!  ;)

Jean, there is NOTHING like meeting a fellow clusterhead in person!  I have met over a hundred of these brain damaged whackos, and look forward to meeting hundreds more!

It is the one place where you can get hit, and not worry about what people think of you.  You WON'T have to put up with one of us saying, "Oh, it is JUST a headache!  Quit being so melodramatic!"

I was SO nervous when I went to meet the first batch of axe murderers clusterheads!  BUT, it went FANTASTIC!  I don't regret a moment of it!  Even when I got hit in the middle of the chat fest, in the restaurant.

Since then I have been to many gatherings, and have gotten hit in virtually every one of them, and no one thought it strange.  They just let me do my thing, and then just welcomed me back after the beast left.  It has been the bestest of times when we get together!

I went about 24 years before meeting my first fellow whacko sufferer.  The bind is instantaneous, and lasts forever.

I can remember some of the more memorable meetings in person VERY well!  Seems to me I remember meeting this one feisty, short blond babe, I think she is all of three feet nothing inches tall, at the airport.  I saw her walking up, and the first words I said to her, before even being introduced to her was, "Who the fuck are YOU?"  Heehee!!!

Now THAT was a memorable first time meeting!  LOL!  NOW, I can't go to a convention without that short shaver being there and bugging the snot outta me!  (BTW, I love her dearly for just being HER!)  (Just don't tell her I said that!)

Anyhow, in answer to your question, YES, many of us have met in person.  But many more have never met, in person.  Many of us regularly call each other on the phone, too.  Our common freakiness condition transcends any other differences.

Do whatever you can to meet fellow sufferers!  You will NEVER regret it!  (Unless that short lil blond shows up)

Chuck

The first time my husband Dave met some of the guys from Boston it made him feel like his secret illness was real... for so long people treated him like they just didnt believe or understand his pain...

We have only been to one convention but even before that I felt that the people here are the best friends that I have, and with a common bond, and a goal to end this pain that we call Cluster Headache...

Be well and pain free

I would love to be able to come to Dallas.  We are already going on a vacation to Myrtle Beach S.C. in July.  My kids look forward to it every year.  We'll be there 7 nights this year.

I hope you all that are going have a wonderful,pf, time.  Someday I hope to meet all of you.  It is nice to have new friends that can really relate to something that sometimes controls my life.  You all have really made me feel welcome!

Yup. I suppose outsiders have no idea what it's like to have a clusterhead walk up and say hello.......while in the same instant you realize that you two have zero reason nor inclination to start in on CH. It was stunning to meet someone that is in on just what the horror is and needs no crash course nor explanation that CH is different. I was surprised at myself, even.

When are you going to Myrtle Beach?  I live in North Carolina.  Maybe we can get some fellow clusterheads to meet up for a night, in Myrtle Beach!

There are several of us in the Carolinas.

Close?  Yes, we're close.  I trust these people with my life more than my own blood family.

Oh, did anybody tell you about the donut fund yet???  ::)

Welcome,

My family and I will be in Myrtle Beach July 21-27.  I love it there.  We have even talked of moving there someday.  The Carolina's are beautiful.  We drive there every year so we are able to take in the scenery.

It would be fun to get together there.  Let me know!

We're family, whether we've met or not.

I am *truly* blessed to be able to have so many great friends from here.

On top of that, my best female friend AND best male friend are people I met through this website!

Sometimes we forget that we haven't actually met, like with Lizzie, I feel I have met her in person but I haven't.

And it's good to pm people when you're going to be in their neighborhood - I got to stop in on the 1st California meet n greet when I was picking up a car for a friend at the Sacramento Airport, and met Guiseppi again when my son graduated from San Diego State,, met BMonee when he was driving through my neighborhood, and met Alchemy/Jim when I visited my Dad 30 minutes away from him.

It is a unique bond.  Guiseppi and I only lost my hubby Joe when we talked cycles and meds.  My son Jim and Alchemy/Jim's son started talking music and were off in the zone.

I had to put up with jokes and the nickname "speedy" for awhile after the CA meet n greet since I only stayed 75 minutes, but it meant a lot to me to meet those critters.

Me too George!  Met one clusterhead years ago and it was great.  But have talked on the phone to a few more than a few times.  I can't wait for the day to really truly meet my family.
