Title: another update on my Granpa... Post by Rosybabe on May 2nd, 2008, 2:27pm Well, I just got a call from Mom, she said that my Granpa ate dinner last night! He ate Fish filet and enchiladas!! but He only ate because a very pretty Doctor came to the room last night and told him He needed to eat and if He wanted She would go to the restaurant and bring him whatever He like... so he ask for it and He ate the whole thing!! He spoke to her for a while and made her promised to come and have breakfast with him today! I am speechless... My Mom is jealous... He will always be the typical macho mexicano we know... It took a pretty woman to bring him out of the depresion... I guess my aunts and I are not enough :(... Well I don't care! as long as He gets better She can come to live with us if she wants to :D (I don't think so, because she is married ;) ) but bless her heart for what she did! He will remain at the hospital for another week at least to stabilize him and see how he develops.. Good news finally!! Thank you all for your prayers but keep praying for him please :) :-* Rosy. |

I like his style ;) This reminds me of an elderly depressed patient whom I met during my first year as a medical resident in the local hospital. I came to see him to write a report on his file and was warned by the nurses that he was very depressed and didnt want to talk to anyone. I came and sat down on the chair next to his bed, not sure how to engage him in a conversation. However before I could open my mouth, he took a look at me and when he saw the top I was wearing ( it was a green woollen jumper with the word "Vogue" embroided in gold across the front ), he commented " " Now I know why they say women are vogue from the neck down and vague from the neck up " !! I was stunned and couldnt help cracking up laughing, he laughed with me then too. From that day he kept asking for the " vague doctor " and I came back to see him almost every day until he was well enough to be discharged. I have always remembered him with fondness to this day. Elderly people when depressed still have their sense of humour intact, you just need to be opportunistic in bringing it out of them. Next time you go visit him dress in something bright and try telling him jokes to see if he will open up to that. All the best wishes to Grandpa and your family. |

[smiley=bloos.gif] He especially enjoyed flirting with the young waitresses and sales clerks. :-* I owned a restaurant at the time and he had a couple favorite (attractive) young girls he would come to visit. He lived alone and all the girls were told to try and get him to eat something when he came in. The attractive ones almost always were able to talk him into something. [smiley=grin2.gif] |

Post by Rosybabe on May 6th, 2008, 2:07pm My Granpa had a down turn, He was put in the ICU last night because his heart started acting up, he was very nervous and tried to get off the bed and took off the IV and Oxygen tubes , the Doctor thinks he is having panic attacks. He is not doing much better today so I beg you guys to pray for him :'(.. Thank You again!! Rosy. |
