Title: Can't find a home for the Labs
Post by DonnaH_again on Apr 27th, 2008, 8:19am
My sister and I spent most of the day Friday e-mailing or calling Rescues, Vets, Shelters and people we know, but can't find any interest in Judy's two Chocolate Labs.  I don't know what we are going to do.

She can't do things like Craigs List because she wants to know that they're going to good homes and not a laboratory, or being used for training dogs that fight.

I have a cat and a dog where I live, but I'm only allowed to have one pet.........the cats an indoor animal that no one notices.

Shelters (that we can reach) are full and some say they don't know where the money is going to come from to feed those that they have.

Is our economy so bad that people can't feed their dogs and are leaving them with services such as these?

If you have any ideas or know any one who would give a good home to these 7 year old purebreds, please let me know.

Thanks again for listening to me babble.

Donna,
I wish I had more room here, but I already have 4 dogs. One I got a few months ago because someone threw it out.
My neighbor has seven dogs that have been dumped on our road. I wish I knew someone who could help you. Labs make great friends (pets) !
You could put them in the paper and check out the people that answer your add. Go visit their homes. You might even make an agreement that you can visit them from time to time. Just because someone answers your add does not mean you have to sale or give them to them. You have the right to check them out.
Wishing your daughter luck.

Donna - I wish you much luck in finding homes for those two beautiful dogs.  Chocolate Labs are my favourites.  They're such great family pets.

I sure wish I didn't live so far away.

I'll bet before long someone in this family will come up with a solution for you.

Hugs
Carol

After a weekend of dead-ends, we finally solved the Chocolate Lab and Bulldog crisis.

The Labs will be going to two brothers, one of whom my son-in-law works with.  Judy will be able to keep Romeo, the Bulldog, with help from the brother who lives in the other half of the duplex. which these brothers own.  He will be puting up a fence around the property and it will open into the pool cage so that the dog can be outside during the day in a comfortable situation until  her husband gets home from work.

I thank you all so much for your vibes and prayers........this appears to be another success story.

Amen!

Edited to take out a unnecessary word.

I'm so happy for you and Judy that you've found homes for the dogs.

Now Judy can just concentrate on her own health and you can concentrate on Judy.

To anyone that thinks it's easier being the Mom when the kids are all grown up - NOT!!!! ;)

Hugs to y'all

Glad you found homes for the pups. I've got a full house right now but was trying to figure out how to get them to Texas. You know me -- SUCKER!!!! Just can't stand to see a dog without a home.

I swear -- when I win the lottery I'm putting in a "no kill" animal rescue shelter... My vet has 20 right now he's trying to find homes for. He's trying to win the lottery also. He's about as big a sucker as I am. I just need about five more arms -- they all want "attention" at the same time.  ;)

Carol, that is an understatement!!

I am so glad you found a place for the dogs. Cyn told me last night.

My prayers are with yopu and Judy through her surgery. Please keep us posted.

I am also glad you found a place for your labs, I was also talking to John about bringing them here but we are so far away...we have a big yard and Phantom is all alone  without Misty  :(,  I just can't commit to have animals inside since John is very allergic to pet hair, He has a bit of trouble with my parrot but He can handle that.
I have been looking for a friend for Phantom but everyone that is giving their pet for adoption wants their dog to be an inside dog and we just can't do that...I also want it to be in puppy age so I can grow comfortable having it around since I have dog fobia  :'(...

too much trouble and we have so many worries...I guess Phantom will need to get used to be alone for a while  :(.

At least you had that problem resolved and they will be close to you and your daughter so you can visit them  :).
