Jeffrey had an inaugural drive in the car. We hope to be going to a couple car shows this summer. We did all the work ourselves. (I even helped install the exhaust:)

this car was part of his heart attack rehabilitation. It also gave us something to do together. I am as proud as he is:)

Hey, Kimberly, you remember where i live, right? You can come by anytime and let me use that.

I though the engine in my car was a decent size.....its half the size of that big block!!! 460.......thats like 8 litres, right? thats HUGE.

Jeffrey is excited to see your replies...(had an inappropriate word here that meant that he hustled for attention;) LOL!!!!

He has been the mastermind and the visonary of this project and done endless hours on a wire wheel to recondition parts that most would have thrown out and replaced. It looks marvelous.

OMG,

Some of my favorite corvette owners at that! Let's see when I work. I may have Friday Sat. off (or not..sheesh) WE could do some playing together. And THEY say that ford and chevy couldn't get along:)

I love Mustangs ! My first car was a mustang. Got it for 3 years when rolled it in a drag race accident :P

I had a '65 Fastback 'Stang.

Used to fold the back seat down for my 100 lb. St. Bernard. She loved the view.

I am still kicking myself for selling that car!!!!!

I swear though that car keeps running and running like the energizer bunny. Original engine and I am a daily driver too.

LOL! Is that a Caliente? Jeff said it's still going to take us longer for the tickets and the gas stops...sheesh!

He still has to cut a hole in the hood and wet sand and buff it and put the trim around the front and back windows (headliner replacement don't you know) new throttle linkage , oh, and license.

In searching for my Corvette pictures (which I still can't fine >:() I ran across these.

The Mustang is a 1967 Shelby 428 Cobra Jet. It was Blake's. He sold it in 1976 and wishes he hadn't. :( 625 hp at the flywheel and 575 hp at the rear wheels.

The drag car is a Beretta my brother and I raced on the NHRA circuit. 1,000 hp

I'm a car guy as well. Grew up at the dragstrip & car shows. Mostly I have owned fast boats & motorcycles. My Dad was the one who had all the cars.

In the late 60's & the early 70's we used to do a lot of street racing.

It was a blast to go to the local drive-in restaurant and wait for a race.

Soon enough we would be on our way to a deserted hiway to race.
My Dad was a great driver and I don't ever remember getting beat locally.

Nowadays it takes super-mega-bucks to do that kind of stuff. Back in the day most anyone with a good job could compete both on the street and at a sanctioned event. Now it's just too expensive.

Some of my fondest memories were of me & my Dad racing.

One time we had some young guy trailer in from Chicago. Said he was looking for us.

Just kept running his big mouth about how fast his ride was and we were going to go down in flames/ humiliated etc. etc.

We beat him by maybe 6 cars.

When we got back to the drive in, he was naturally embarrassed for running his big yap. Trying to think of something to soften all of his trash talking he told my Dad:

"Oh man, that must be the fastest car on the street I have ever seen !!"

Dad says: " It aint fast, yours is just slow" ;;D ;;D ;;D

If that Mustang Shelby was an original "numbers-match" car, I cant imagine what it is worth today.

In 76 it probably went for a good price, but today the collector market has pushed the value of old muscle cars into astronomical prices.....like you could buy a nice house with it !!!!
