All of us here suffer with migraine and if we don't - or rather if YOU don't then arseholes to you.

Some of our greatest supporters and advocates here have migraine. People who care for us and about us day in and day out whilst dealing with their own horrible incapacitating condition and how do we repay them? We go on about meeegraines and how we want to zap dr's who talk about meeegraines with a kip 10 or we saypeople who try to sympathie with us saying they have meeeeegraines make us want to grind our teeth or snap at them.

When are we going to wake up and realise, as a collective, that whilst our pain is excruciating we are not the only people who suffer in the world? We expect people to empathise wih us - maybe it's time we learned to be a little more caring ourselves.

I have spoken to two supporters this week. OTHER PEOPLES SUPPORTERS - but people who still find time to check in on me. Both of them don't feel welcome here and both feel terribly hurt by the "it's only a meeeegraine" attitude.

YES this is a CH website but why can't we show a little consideration to those who care about us? People who come here looking for help with migraine can be politely given other links. They don't need to be ridiculed.

We're quick enough to show oceans of sympathy when someone's dog dies - why can't we accept someone else has a pain in their head that stops them in their tracks without us needing to add a pain in their hearts into the equation?

Yes we have a different type of pain but the reality is that if one has only experienced the pain of a splinter than that is the most one can know and understand.

It is about compassion not just what we expect from others but how we show it to others.

If nothing else, this condition should make one humble and more compassionate towards those in pain.

And yes Vibes go out to so many with regards to having a freakin hangnail.

Eric, who btw had a 2 day fucking migraine that sucked and was only complicated by having clusters imbedded.
I will also tell you this, CH never made me pissy...having that f-en migraine made me a real bastard.

That would be me. I did and do wish a 10 (if it were possible, for 1 minute) on a dr, but because he said my headaches were migraine, and if I did what he told me to that I would not have a problem, then turned and walked away from me, leaving me in a high cycle with no help and no hope of help.

The first advice I got on this board was to fire him and get a doc who would listen & care, and I did.

p.s. I love you too, and I do get migraines, also. I agree that pain is pain. As we know, it is not possible to give someone a 10 for 1 minute, and that is the limit of my wish, so it's moot, but I still feel that way.

I do have migraines too and a lot of members of my family do have them also. They are not fun because they last longer and they normally come with nausea and light sensitibity. I am not going to be less caring with someone because he/she does not have CH. Hey like Eric said pain is pain!! ...icepicks and sinus headaches hurt too! TMJ is painful as hell!!...
God I have a collection of headaches!! :o..
to all of you who have any kind of headache or other type of pain, my heart goes to you...

Thank you Helen and Eric for saying way you did so eloquently. I don't think I could have said it any better. Lisa gets both and said CH is like a tornado and migraines are like hurricanes. Neither is pleasant and both causes severe pain, just a different kind.

Well, then arseholes to me, I guess. I don't suffer with migraine.

I've been trying to understand this statement, and I have to say, I don't get it. :-/

I get migraines as well - I got that diagnosis along with ch one. Ch has been a bigger problem out of the two, though, "lucky" me.

Yup... pain is pain, and even tension headaches hurt. I've had a couple of migraines, and they suck.

Brew and Ueli, I'm sorry I didn't explain that very well.. what I meant was our supporters suffer through our CH with us - in spirit. We shouldn't be any less sorry to see them in pain either, hence "suffering" with them.

When there are people here day in day out who are good friends to us all then it just burns me that we negate their pain just cos it's different to ours.

I get migraines also, and they usually go on for days. It's like having a kip 6 or 7 that just won't end. At least CH does end. And like you, Eric, I find myself getting VERY pissy when I have a migraine, and I feel sorry for the people close to me, because it's like I can't help it.

I've spoken to a couple of people here, when I'm having one, and gotten the comment, "at least it's not CH". Yes, at least it's not a clusterheadache. But, I'd rather have CH than a migraine sometimes, because at least the CH ends, and relatively soon. I'm not easy to live with, with migraine. In fact, I've had one now for 3 days straight. Ask Kirk, he's been on the receiving end of it for 3 days. I'm TRYING to be nice...

Pain is pain, and mine is no better or worse than anyone else's. It just is.

I get migraines too and while they are different than ch, they still are painfull.

I agree with you Helen, pain is pain and we shouldn't be getting into a pissing contest over who suffers the most. We should be supporting others in pain as much as possible.

I no longer suffer with migraine. Mine quit when I started getting CH, but I still remember them. I find CH to be much more intense, but like someone said, they do end sooner.

You are so right about compassion. Very often it seems we (including me) get rather insular about our affliction and forget others have needs too.

I agree Helen. I get meegraines too (women do that ;)) and they HURT and make you sick to your stomach (Hate that part). They're just different from CH, but pain is pain.

Empathy should be shown to our supporters. I think the part where everyone gets upset about is newbies coming here wanting migraine advice. This has always been a CH board and everyone is very protective about that part (always have been).

Over the years I've noticed more of a tolerance toward migraines and usually someone will post a link to a migraine site for those who need it. Us CHers just get a little touchy when someone says they have to lie down in a dark room when we're exhausted from "not" being able to lie down at all.

But we're all working on our attitudes.. :-/

Anyhow that's my 2 cents.....
