Ellen went to the Junior Prom this evening:

No one in the house is used to seeing Ellen in anything but jeans and t-shirts. The cats were afraid of her dress.

It scared me a little too. What happened? She's supposed to be eight years old.... :-/

I hope for their sake that all of the local young men know that Ellen's daddy knows how to use a gun ;).

I'm happy and sad for ya George. not having been blessed with a daughter of my own I can only guess at the play of emotions that take place as your little girl grows up, but I am fairly sure as nani points out that it is a teeter-totter kind of time.

"Wow" for the young man escorting your daughter and "Yikes" for all fathers of future daughters going to the prom, namely me!

I trust that the growing up is long enough to allow a man to come to grips with himself about his little girl!?!?

Hi George,

I am reminded EVERY day why I am here. CH?, yeah, well, oh well. More important is to live, love and laugh.
The 3 "L's", just realized that.

Live: Ellen's growing up. I appreciate the opportunity to watch a small part. Great pics of a beautiful lady to be. The cats?, thanks for including, they look confused-small brains, BIG hearts, they'll be ok.

Love: Now that's obvious. nani knows.

Laugh: Jonny cracks me up. Still laughing about Gramps.My friends little girl calls me "Poppa". Put a little garlic and butter on me, cuz when that happens, I'm done! Tim has me smiling too. I'm thinkin': George, porch, rocking chair, shotgun and a little "Deliverance" banjo music-dah dah, doot doot, doot doot, doot doot, dooooooo...

Seeing Ellen with the cats reminded me of Cinderella with the mice :) That is a very cute photo. Ellen looks stunning and that is such a vibrant colour, not many could carry it off but she does with panache.

I hope she had a wonderful time, I hope there will be more photo's from last night that we can see too.

She's a gem, George. Looks very nice formal. The cats may be wary but she's certainly not scaring away any suiting guys. Lucky guy, nice white flower corsage accent. I like her hair on her shoulders with the dress.

Wow! What a hot dress. I'm in a similar situation and I've reminded my step-daughter's boyfriend, while shooting a pellet rifle and pistol in the backyard, that my wife and I usually hit what we aim at...

I love the way the two cats are looking at each other like "Who is this?" She is very beautiful. It's always so amazing when our kids dress up that much! They reallty make you realize just how close to adult hood they are getting!

Ellen had a really nice time, although she got home well before curfew. She's a good kid. ;)

The biggest topic of conversation after she got home was how and why her best friend Sasha made a boy cry. Sasha apparently felt badly about it, but there was quite a complicated analysis of the whole dynamic.
