Title: Fake fingernail disability?
Post by cynjeep89 on Apr 12th, 2008, 9:40am
I was waiting in a checkout line at a store a couple of days ago.

In front of me was a young woman who turned around and said, "I see two nickels on the floor and can't pick them up because of my nails.  Would you pick them up for me?"

What would you have done?

I can assume that she didn't drop the money?  That being the case, I'd have picked them up, put them in my pocket, smiled sweetly, and said, "thank-you for pointing them out to me".

I would have said "If you can afford to have your nails done, you really don't need the two nickels"

But thats just my smart ass personality I guess!

Jimmers, who would of picked them up and put them in the poor box at church! ;)

The money on the floor was not hers.

I would have told her "well it sucks to be you doesn't it?" and picked up the two nickels and put them in the penny jar at the cashier for someone that really needed it more than her.
;)

I probably would have picked them up for her if she would have said "please". :)

I would've said, you're new at this aren't you.  I can pick up a grain of rice with mine if I had to.  But, yes, I would've been nice and picked them up for her.  How did you know they weren't her's Cyn?...she did have some nerve if it wasn't even her money...lol

Well....

I could have picked up the nickels and handed them to her.

That may have led to a brief and humorous interchange--the both of us thinking nothing of it.  By chance, we might meet again occasionally on the street, nodding and smiling, acknowledging the small, intimate moment we shared in the checkout line.

As these things go, one thing might lead to another, and soon I might discover that my marriage is destroyed, I'm ruined financially, and I turn to alcohol and drugs to relieve the pain of my existence.  Soon I am facing a long stint in prison, where I rue the day that I chose to pick up...two nickels.

Better to leave them on the floor and pretend I didn't hear her.  Life's full of doors, and most are better left unopened.

;)

Best,

George

I would have told her to squat down and pick them up with her tight-assed butt cheeks.

I would just simply say " No " .

There is no need to taunt someone with sarcasm when it will just fly above their head, and there is definitely no need to explain myself .

LMAO, George.  ;;D I wonder where El gets her imagination and talent.

I'm not sure what I would do, frankly, I'd be hard pressed (with my back and hip troubles) to get my own nickels off the floor. I would leave them there for some kid to find and feel lucky.

I'd probably pick them up as a first instinct to just be nice, but then think about it for awhile after....ponder why we do things like grow fingernails, what is "good" and "bad," actually I might be doing this while picking up the nickels and enjoy the time to think about something so much that I wouldn't care that I was picking them up in the first place.
