I just found out a couple of hours ago that I won an award at my hospital for upcoming Nurses' Week. I won the Rising Star award, which recognizes a novice nurse for their commitment to nursing and to excellent patient care.

How cool is that?!?!?!

Not to toot my own horn, but I am really excited about this! I put a lot into my job, and some of you know more than others what that has been like for me in the past year especially. I feel so honored to have been nominated and then to win this award! So excited! :)

Just wanted to share a little of the happiness!

Considering what all that you have to deal with beyond the stresses of the job makes this award that much more important and gratifying. I'm proud of you kid!

Thanks all!!

I actually think that when my clinical nurse specialist nominated me (I believe it was she who nominated me), she wrote about my cluster headaches, chronic migraine, and rheumatoid arthritis as other things I have to deal with on top of being a nurse. So CH got a mention!! :)

This really was a needed plus! I just feel like my life has a little more worth than I gave it credit for before!

Tomorrow, they are taking my picture on the unit, so I'll have to dig out the "good" scrubs! haha Maybe Jason (my bf) will be a little less mad at me that I did nothing today on my day off in lieu of hearing this good news! We'll see!! :)

No two ways about it, Carrie............you are one of the "strong and caring and devoted" people we all admire. I saw the likes of you at All Childrens in St. Pete. But to win that award..........puts you in an even more special catagory.

Wow! Thanks you guys :)

I had the picture taken yesterday - turned out nicely! I don't have a copy of it at this time, but maybe I can email the woman who took the photo to see if I can get a copy of the pic. Apparently I will be invited to an upcoming dinner, and I will hear more about the award during Nurses' Week in May.

It is so nice to have hard work recognized!
