Title: Google Maps Post by cynjeep89 on Apr 1st, 2008, 2:57pm Does anyone know when Google Maps added the street view pictures? I was looking for a specific address for a furniture uhpholstery shop in my area and when I entered the address, the map came up with an actual picture of the business. It looks like the street view option is only available for certain areas of the country. Haven't used Google Maps in a while so maybe I missed this new addition to their search options. I googled my street address and noticed that the pics they took must have been taken on a Wednesday since some of my neighbors had their trash cans at the end of their driveways. ;;D |

Title: Re: Google Maps Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Apr 1st, 2008, 7:48pm I think its been about a year in Portland. It's pretty cool to look up an address and a picture of the business comes up. It's pretty damn freaky to pull up your home address and see a pic of your house from the sidewalk right out front. Big Brother aint just a reality TV show anymore |

Title: Re: Google Maps Post by cynjeep89 on Apr 5th, 2008, 7:58am Kinda figured this was going to happen sooner or later. Boring Family Of Pennsylvania Suing Google Couple Claims Photo Violated Rights, Devalued Home POSTED: 4:22 pm EDT April 4, 2008 UPDATED: 4:46 pm EDT April 4, 2008 A suburban Pittsburgh couple is suing Google for taking pictures of their house that appear on the Web site's "Street View" feature. Aaron and Christine Boring of Franklin Park say the photos violate their privacy, devalued their property and caused them mental suffering. To gather photos for "Street View," Google uses vehicles with mounted digital cameras to take pictures up and down the streets of major metropolitan areas. The Borings say the images of their home on the Google site had to be taken from their long driveway, labeled "Private Road," and that violated their privacy. Google says property owners may request that photos be removed. But the couple's attorney, Dennis Moskal, says removing the photo doesn't undo the damage. The Borings' house is also on the Allegheny County real estate Web site. Moskal says the photo appears to have been taken from a public street. |

Title: Re: Google Maps Post by brewcrew on Apr 8th, 2008, 8:45am To me it's a terrible invasion of privacy. However, if the pic was taken from a public street, I don't see how it can be fought. God help 'em if they set one foot on a private drive, however. |
