Angie's dad had this done in January to both eye's and is doing great. he's driving, reading, playing the piano and enjoying every minute of of it. He had surgery at 8:00am and Angie drove him home at 10:00am. Praying it goes as easy for you! :) [smiley=hug.gif] Barry |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by HeadhurtinMama on Mar 31st, 2008, 9:46pm There is early onset cataracts on my Mom's side. She got her first one at 46. I figure, I might as well hold out for 10-15 more years on the LASIK, then I can just get the Rx implants while fixing my cataracts. I have determined I am a genetic cesspool and will inherit every bad gene on either side of the family, but this would be the way to have corrective surgery and have my insurance pay for it! They ended up knocking my Mom out for both of the surgeries, as she just couldn't hold her eyes still. Other than that, hers went off without a hitch! Best of luck! |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by Kevin_M on Mar 31st, 2008, 9:51pm My g/f had it done and took it well, she'd have the other eye done anytime. Usually you get a pair of large, oversized sunglasses to wear, too. Pics! :) |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by Batch on Mar 31st, 2008, 10:56pm Jacks, Mega Hugs... I know it sounds spooky, but it's no big deal and no where near as invasive as the slurp job they did on my right eye... We'll all be here and with you in May and we'll all be there together in Dallas in July... Piece of cake... Love Pete & Joyce |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by LeLimey on Apr 1st, 2008, 8:22am It does sound scary and you can tell me all about it afterwards as I know it's something I'll have to face sooner or later. Do you have an actual date yet Jackie? The joys of Pred and steroid induced cataracts.. :-/ |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by B14CK5H33P on Apr 1st, 2008, 9:20am Just keep a positive outlook in that, you will still be able to look out your windows and see nature once the surgery is done - and no worries. Positive vibes & hugs, Carl |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by Angie on Apr 1st, 2008, 9:34am Good luck Jackie I am like Pat, I hate anything to do with eyes. Makes me want to faint. With my dad after the surgery I had to administer 3 different kinds of drops in his eyes every 2 hours. One was a predizone drop. It was tough because I am not good with eyes, we got through it. He still wears his big dark glasses but he is enjoying seeing again. Best of luck Jackie, this surgery is worth it. [smiley=hug.gif] |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by pattik on Apr 1st, 2008, 7:51pm You don't have to be old to get cataracts...sorry to hear you have to have this surgery done. But from what I've heard from people who have had it done, you will be amazed at how great your sight will be, including how colors look. When my dad had his done, his vision was much better than it had been even before the cataracts developed. Good luck. -Pat |

Title: Re: I have a frosty...... Post by BarbaraD on Apr 3rd, 2008, 4:26pm Who's OLD???? I had BOTH mine done several years ago -- it's amazing how well I see now... Hang in there - it's not that bad. Most of the time I don't even have to wear glasses any more - how's that for getting "younger"? But here's what you do..... after the surgery, you come home and lay down and let Blake wait on you for about a week or so.... sigh a lot .... helps the mood... :) And don't forget your drops..... Hugs BD |
