Title: Microvascular Decompression Post by B14CK5H33P on Mar 30th, 2008, 5:47am Has anyone ever heard of this form of surgery? It is mainly used to treat Trigeminal Neuralgia, but it looks like they are also using this procedure for Cluster Headaches, according to an article from MHNI. http://www.mhni.com/clusterheadaches.aspx#surgical This is a video of the surgery. Warning - GRAPHIC images... not for the squeamish. http://youtube.com/watch?v=l4sne6iCriY Once I get through physical therapy and pain management, I am seriously considering this procedure (but think I'll wait until it is proven to work for chronic CH.) For now, I'll stick to sucking o2. The non-rebreather mask is shit, but I plan on getting a scuba valve to get the highest benefit possible from the o2. Also, has anyone ever tried Clomid for CH? It is a med used to help steroid users get off the pump-up junk. Peace, Carl D |

Title: Re: Microvascular Decompression Post by Karla on Mar 30th, 2008, 7:14am sorry Carl I haven't heard of it until now. Pain managment and physical therapy can do wonders. That is how I have been pain free for years. I would really be careful with the o2 and breathing in more than what you are suppose to. I would hate to see your lungs go Kaput. Hang in there brother. Nice to know there are more and more options every day out there for us. |

Title: Re: Microvascular Decompression Post by deltadarlin on Mar 30th, 2008, 10:09am Are you sure about the Clomid? Clomid is used to treat infertility in women. It works by stimulating an increase in the amount of hormones that support the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation). |

A friend of mine who is a biomedical engineer (and has also got me the proper docs after my primary almost killed me last year) read about a study on Clomid. Apparently it is also used for steroid users who are coming off the bulk-drugs, and may be useful for CH. on 03/30/08 at 10:22:16, Mrs Deej wrote:
Thanks Steph. Right now any info I can get my hands on is helpful. One thing I have been scared to death of is having a doctor cut on me for anything. Last thing I need is to be worse off than I already am. I'm hoping the pain management helps with my other probs. The sooner I can get back on a stage, the better. For now, I have a hard time standing for too long, and walking has become a chore. Come to find out, it's not my hip at all, but 3 lower discs screwed in my back and a pinched nerve. Also found out the constant ache in the back of my head at the base of the skull is from my neck having no curvature, and T1 is pointing upward towards the base. Finding the cause is always nice. Helps to find solutions. ;) |
