Title: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by Maffumatt on Mar 27th, 2008, 1:28pm So I moved a train that had been sitting for about a month today. Well a yearling was laying under it and tried to escape but was to slow. The front was kinda messed up but I have 2 rump roasts and the backstrap. One side of the backstrap is on the grill as I type this. He was breathing less than an hour ago, and cooking now. Now thats a fresh meal! |

Depends on how hungry you are. I cut the jugular and bled it, that was enough. I have the roasts and other backstrap in the sink soaking in some salthingyer and beer now. Sorry Redd, I'd already cooked it before I thought about pics ...... He was a yearling so he wasn't to gamey. |

I think thats funny as hell. I figured salthingyer was some sort of solution that hunters use.......until i thought about it for a while. |

Title: Re: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by Redd on Mar 28th, 2008, 8:36pm If Matt wants to bug out let him. He's a big boy, with raw nerves after Pop passed on. He was under alot of pressure there for a while, and he didn't have the time to come to full terms with the weight that was on his shoulders. I know, because I was there. With Mom, but I had 5 years to come to terms with the inevitable. Matt only had a matter of months. It's a very heavy burdon to bare, the last days of a parent. The obligation to fullfill their wishes, regardless of our own thoughts and desires. If he comes back he comes back. If not, that is his choice. He's raw and the wounds are still very fresh, and I'd bet he's in cycle again too. It is Spring after all. Matt, come back if you want to. When it's right for you. If it's not, so be it. Just remember no one will understand you the way we do. |

Title: Re: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by Redd on Mar 28th, 2008, 9:01pm Sean, you know I love you,.. but till you've carried the life and death decisions for your parent in the palm of your hand... I'm sorry I can't comment further. |

Title: Re: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by Annette on Mar 28th, 2008, 9:13pm I love you Sean and I admire your strength and your determination not to act compulsively. Not all of us measure up to you in that respect. I can be weak and scared and emotional at times and during those times I have acted less than perfect. I hope my friends here will still love me for who I am. Thats all I have to say. |

Title: Re: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by Tara Ann on Mar 29th, 2008, 11:55am Yes losing a parent IS hard. I went into hiding pretty much after my mom passed (suddenly) and I hardly would take a phone call or answer an email. I was emotional and unpredictable..... just my [smiley=twocents.gif] I didn't see this thread till today and it caught my eye cause my son could live off venison (sp?) If we have deer he will not eat anything else till it's gone LOL. But whatever I didn't see what origionally transpired on this thread. I just hope he knows he can come back when/if he wants. It's nice to have a place to call "home" and "family" ..... atleast for me. |

Title: Re: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by sandie99 on Mar 29th, 2008, 12:09pm Losing a parent is dreadful! :'( It's been soon 11 years for since my dad passed away, but it still gets to me during certain days and times... Then it's nearly as raw as it was back in April 1997. I actually cried when I read what Pegg and Tara posted earlier; so many memories from dad's final months came back to me - as they often do this time of the year. Sanna |

Title: Re: Stupid deer...but Yummy Post by alienspacebabe on Mar 29th, 2008, 5:49pm Raw is raw, whether it's a month, a year, or years.... I've kept myself distracted today, as much as I can. Still, found a book Dad would have *loved*.... Not celebrating his life, nor mourning his death - rather, trying to keep my mind off the fact that he's not here physically. I'm fortunate that I didn't have to make decisions about my Dad's healthcare - I can't imagine how difficult and draining that must be. Matt's raw. Give him a break folks. He left - nothing more. Give him the time he needs to heal. |
