Title: I was almost killed...by a bloody DISHWASHER. Post by JuniorBrew on Mar 27th, 2008, 12:53am So, I work at a local mom-and-pop coffee shop, right? My duties include that of a barista, making drinks and such, but also cleaning up. So, I'm washing out the bottom collection pan of the espresso machine at the sink, because I can't wash it in the dishwasher. I was just shutting the water off, when I hear an ominous rumbling. (Cue the subwoofers.) I stepped back to put the bottom pan back into the espresso machine, when the little stainless steel air gap cover gets blown off, into the ceiling, by a 7-foot torrent of dirty dishwasher water. I was so sure I was being shot at, I ducked and covered. Damage report: A one-and-one-half inch diameter hole in the ceiling tile, one very frightened JuniorBrew, and about 6 or 7 gallons of dirty water. One word. Gross. I'm still picking pieces of ceiling out of my hair. |

Title: Re: I was almost killed...by a bloody DISHWASHER. Post by George_J on Mar 27th, 2008, 1:10am Yep. Bad enough to die, but worse to be shot and killed by a dishwasher. There's no glory in it. You'd probably be an internet legend, though. Best, George |

Title: Re: I was almost killed...by a bloody DISHWASHER. Post by brewcrew on Mar 27th, 2008, 7:49am And I am proud to report that my 16-year-old son just outed himself: He actually does know how to use a dishwasher. That what-the-hell-are-you-talking-about look will no longer work at home. |

Title: Re: I was almost killed...by a bloody DISHWASHER. Post by Ray on Mar 27th, 2008, 7:52am Roy: Think of the astronomical odds of that ever happening again. Just be glad that the espresso machine didn't blow up. Those things pack enormous pressure! Will you be reporting in kevlar body armor? Wishing you well, Ray |

Title: Re: I was almost killed...by a bloody DISHWASHER. Post by Sandy_C on Mar 27th, 2008, 4:35pm Oh, JBrew! The tears coming out of my eyes right now from reading this are not because I'm laughing ;), of course not. It must be due to some other cause. Of course it is. Let's chalk this one up as a learning experience. As you get older you will learn to avoid all appliances, large or small whenever possible. ::) Sandy |

Title: Re: I was almost killed...by a bloody DISHWASHER. Post by LeLimey on Mar 27th, 2008, 4:47pm Well Brew, it shows that proper training is needed. You and Pat need to make Roy practise, practise, practise until he is proficient and, make no mistake. I don't want to hear about any more potentially deadly domestic incidents. That being said will you please train the boy in the art of mopping floors, cleaning fridges and ovens and doing laundry. There is also use of irons, vacuum cleaners and dusters which are an essential safety tool in the prevention of ingestion of dust. A house is a killer environment and that poor young man needs to learn survival skills Helen (How did I do?!) |
