Title: New Song Recorded
Post by Lizzie2 on Mar 25th, 2008, 10:18pm
For the past few months, I haven't felt much like touching my piano for a variety of reasons, but mostly just because I felt too depressed on and off to really play.  Today I finally got back into it, and it was actually a lot of fun!  I have shared some of my recorded music before, so I thought I'd share the song I recorded today.  The song is "Yesterday" by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.  This is kinda a preliminary version of it since I only printed the sheet music today, and I would like to do more to make this song my own and then re-record it.  At any rate, feedback appreciated!  I know I'm recording with a headset and mic which isn't the greatest, but it's the best I've got for now!

Yesterday (http://homepage.mac.com/lizzpiano/.cv/lizzpiano/Sites/.Public/Yesterday.m4a-zip.zip)

If any of you want to hear any more of my solo piano or piano/vocal stuff, check out my online files at http://homepage.mac.com/lizzpiano  I have added a few new songs since the last time I posted this link.

Thanks!
Carrie :)

*Edited to add: The files are .m4a, so I don't know if it can only be listened to in iTunes or if it works on other players.  People here have told me  before that my songs can be played on non-itunes players, but I've never tested it personally!  I'm not that knowledgeable with computer file formats!

I tried to listen to it but I couldn't. I even downloaded a program to allow .m4a to be played but I still couldn't. But I have heard you play and sing before, so I know it was good. :(

Hi Carrie,

To make it say yesterday instead of all the code you need to do this,

(url=http://site.com]SITE  ( Change the ( at the beginning to a [ )

So to make it say yesterday you would need to put this;

(url=http://homepage.mac.com/lizzpiano/.cv/lizzpiano/Sites/.Public/Yesterday.m4a-zip.zip]Yesterday
( Change the ( at the beginning to a [ )

I know this is a preliminary version and whilst it did show i know that it was due to the fact that you hadn't made it your own and after you have put your stamp on it it will be just as good as the other songs of yours i have heard  :-*

Thank you for sharing it with us and i really look forward to hearing it again in the future.

Dape  :-* :-*

Thanks all for listening to it and for the feedback!!  Jimi - I'm sorry you couldn't play it!  Once I finalize all my recordings, I'll burn a cd and mail it to you.  Dape - thanks for the feedback and for the coding help - I fixed it!  I knew how to make links in html, but I didn't know how to do it on this format!

Playing and singing is seriously my most favorite thing to do in the world.  Singing "Yesterday" really made me feel good because I've had a lot of stuff going on the past few months and that song is very introspective and emotional.  I printed off a few more songs yesterday, too, so maybe I'll record one of them next.

Thanks for listening to it!!  It means a lot to me!!  In music school, I got to perform for people all the time, and I really love to do it - it makes me so happy to make others happy with music.  Now that I'm no longer in school, I miss the performing aspect, so it's very nice to be able to record my stuff, even if the quality isn't all that great!

Hugz,
Carrie :)

I am listening to Yesterday whilst I am writing this, You have a lovely voice and a talent for the Piano.

I ended up with Itunes downloaded and a selection of some of your work.

It seems that a lot of people here have some very big talents, Art , Music, Photography, Metal work etc to name a few.

I am in awe of all of you

Well done Carrie

Jimi and Mummy - glad you were able to listen!  Sounds like both of you had to go to quite a bit of trouble to hear it!  That's very kind of you!!

Rosy - sorry that you haven't been able to hear it!

Mummy - Yes, we do have quite a lot of talent amongst us.  Well, creativity and madness generally go together, and I'd say a number of us are quite mad, if not from the CH then from our general dispositions!   :D :P

Probably the best piano/vocal I have recorded is I Can't Make You Love Me (http://homepage.mac.com/lizzpiano/.cv/lizzpiano/Sites/.Public/I%20Can't%20Make%20You%20Love%20Me.m4a-zip.zip).

That being said, I am much more talented at classical solo piano than I am at playing and singing, but I tend to think most people don't prefer to listen to the solo classical piano stuff as much.  I'm pretty proud of a lot of that, and I paid a pretty penny to have the recitals professionally recorded!  Lots and lots of time went into perfecting those songs - I spent over a year preparing for each recital.

Thanks again for listening!

Hugz,
Carrie :)

Jackie,

If you really want to listen to it and don't mind putting iTunes on your computer, then here is the link to download iTunes:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

The program works for PC or Mac, but you just have to check the system requirements.  I don't know if you have a newer or older computer or even if that makes a difference!  Thanks for trying to listen to it!!

Barry,

Thanks for listening and for your comments!

Hugz,
Carrie :)
