Title: Big props!!!!
Post by Jonny on Mar 20th, 2008, 8:12pm
To the men and women that protect every one of us and are way of life!

Its been five years that our troops have been fighting and we owe them some props!

The media has torn the millitay down since day one and we owe it to them to let them know they are not forgoten, we are behind them no matter what!

This thread has nothing to do with "if the war is wrong or right"...........Its about support for those that fight and those that have paid the price! (so keep the political BS out of this)

I dont care if you even watch this video, just let them know you care.

I CARE!!!!!

It simpley staggers me to think of what these young people endure, at an age where I did nothing but seek pleasure for myself.

Hi Jonny,

I'm sorry, I have mislead you. Totally unintentional. My thanks was for remembering, acknowledging and posting this message. However, I have never had the HONOR of serving my country in the military.

My family does have a long tradition, and from my earliest memory, Mom made sure we always went to Memorial Day services. To truly appreciate the gut wrenching meaningfullness of "Taps", it needs to be witnessed in the presence of the proud men and women
who have served.

I do have strong opinions on the when, where, and why of how the military is used, but I agree, it don't belong here. This is about the men and women, and I'm another one who CARES.

Once again, thank you (and sorry).

Jon

Just a reminder here......(Jonny, hope you don't mind me hijacking your post here for a minute.)

We have family members here whose children are serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. who would really appreciate receiving some care packages so if you have some time and are interested, send me a pm and I can forward their mailing addresses to you.

Thanks for posting this Jonny.

My Nephew Seth has completed his training with the Army up in Yakastan and leaves for Iraq at the end of the week.

We are throwing him a send off party tonight (I refuse to say goodbye).  We're all proud as hell of Seth and all his brothers in arms serving botgh here and abroad.

So my cluster family, if you could add him to your vibe list I would very much appreciate it.

The ANG base, Gowen Field, is located here in town.  Boise's a small town, really--I know many of the citizen-soldiers who've rotated through assignments in Iraq very well.

Isn't a day goes by when I don't think about them.

Thanks, Jonny.

Politics aside, everybody on my street is happy that this week, my nextdoor neighbor's kid has completed his final tour in Iraq. Next stop for him is University of Pennsylvania courtesy of Uncle Sam. Now that's supporting the troops too.

As I say to people all the time; the men and women of the armed forces never disappoint me. Somewhere along the line they learn how to deal with all us old geezers and learn something about courtesy social graces. It's quite remarkable.

Jonny,

On behalf of my son, and many of our other great kids who are doing the job, THANK YOU!!!  I appreciate the way you support them.

God bless our men and women who are serving in any of our armed forces, and I pray for God's wisdom for their leadership.

I was one of those that was literally spit on, during the other  "hated war" - Vietnam - just for being in uniform, and "supporting" the war.

Hell, I wasn't supporting the war!  (I hated it) I was supporting my COUNTRY!

I will be damned if I ever let ANY service man/woman get treated like I was, back then!

I hate this damn war, as I hated Vietnam, BUT I fully support and thank all those that have given of themselves, for our country!

God bless, and watch over all our men and women that are serving, even if they are not over in the "sand box" !!

Chuck (who gets ROYALLY pissed when I see our service people mistreated!)

We can, We Will.

Good job boys!

I care too, Jonny.  I was against this "war" from the beginning, but since the powers of our government dictated that our men and women go over their to fight and die, by God, I will support those men and women.

Our troops are there, whether we like it or not, whether it was right or wrong...they are THERE.

Support them with your prayers.  Support then with goodie bags of candy, toiletries, anything.  Support them by supporting their families here at home.

This does NOT mean you support the war.  It means that you care about those who have been placed in harm's way for whatever reason.

Politics have nothing to do with it.

Sandy

Chuck - Not to sound corney or cliche, but here is a  "welcome home" with good intentions. If it offends please accept my apology!

For sure Viet Vets got the shortest straw of the "war vet lot". I usually stop by VFW stands of guys selling those little "forget me not" flowers. I buy one for 20 bucks and ask them about the details on the hats they wear. I don't know which they like better, the donation or the opportunity to share thier stories.

Cyndi,

You brought tears to my eyes with that video, couldn't help it.  Lord willing, that will be us in about 401/2 months.  I couldn't be prouder that he was wiling to go, but can't wait to see him get off the plane either.

I found this video that I thought was really good also.

I couldn't agree more! My hubby served 22 years in the Marine Corps before retiring. All those who fight to preserve our rights and freedoms deserve respect and support regardless of anyone's political views. Semper fi
