Title: RIP Bagheera
Post by Mastifflvr28 on Mar 20th, 2008, 11:48am
Rest In Peace Bagheera
9-5-1995 to 3-19-2008

Bagheera was the reason for my nickname
mastiff lover 28

She had a GREAT long life.  I euthanized her at home while she ate McDonalds cheeseburgers...can't get better then that.

So very sorry for her passing.

If we didn't love them so much it wouldn't hurt so much when they passed.

So sorry for your loss.  :'(

I have always loved Mastiffs.
I really like the French Mastiffs, like the one in Turner and Hooch.

I'm so sorry - I always thought of Bagheera as your partner in crime.  At least your were with her in her final moments, sounds like you made it the best possible in her world.

Oh Mast, I am so sorry.

I know I have kidded you mercilessly over the years about your ugly slobbery dogs even though you knew it was all in fun....

My heart breaks for you right now.

Please accept my condolences, Michelle.

It touches the hearts of all pet owners as we either reflect on where we've been or contemplate where we're headed.

My best friend had a mastiff.  She was a big moosh.  We were all devastated when she had to be put down.

Looks like she had a good life, filled with a lot of love.

It always hurts when you lose a pet. Someone's tag line here is "God help me to be the person my dog thinks I am." Hard to duplicate the feeling they give you with their dopey hero worship stare. I hurts for you. :'(

Michelle,

I know your heart is breaking right now and it hurts right down to the bone, doesn't it?  Losing a pet is an awful experience to go thru.

It sounds like Bagheera had a life full of love, a wonderful home and family with you for 12 1/2 years.....that is a long life for such a big dog and is a testament to what good care you gave her.

She was one lucky pup to have had you as her Mom.

I share in your tears but hope yours dry soon and that the thought of Bagherra will bring a smile to your face in days to come.  It will happen.....just takes time.

Hugs to you and your family.

Cyn

What a beautiful companion.  She was gorgeous, and you had about 13 years with her.  What a blessing that was.

I know how hard it is to lose a family member, and a dog IS a family member.  I've lost a few of my own over my 62 years of life, and it's never easy.  I cried buckets with each pet.

Hugs.

Sandy

At 13, Bagheera was an *old* lady by Mastiff standards.
That last pic made me smile.  I don't have any photographs of Grace like that, but I know that *look*.

I remember when jimbo first found this board, and one of the first things that he told me was that he'd *met* someone who had Mastiffs.  He was tickled to no end.

It hurts and nothing takes that pain away.  I am so sorry.

Thanks so much for posting this. It serves as a reminder to go and hug and kiss my dogs.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I've had to put one dog down - man it sucks serious shit. What a crazy tough spot - it makes my head swim.

This is the second pet passing on this board in about a month - ugh.

Again, one of life's worst personal tragedies, the loss of a good dog.

Peace to you..........

It seems like there have been several of us who have lost pets in the past year. Each one is a reminder of just how wonderful they are yet how hard that loss is. I was dusting today and picked up Emily's collar and it brought back tears even though it's been a year, just as all of these posts have.

Bagheera was a beautiful dog. Thank you for the lovely pictures. My sympathy and prayers go out to you and your family.

I'm not used to being on "this side" of the support ring, and your guy's words mean so much to me.  Thank you all so much!!

It's a little weird waking up and seeing that corner of the kitchen where the food bowl was (the BELOVED FOOD BOWL!!!!) empty.

We are actually doing really good here.  It's comforting knowing how much of a good life you provided a dog and that she had a wonderful "end".

Again, thanks all SO much!!
Take care,
Mast
...I'll never change my name, I'll always be a mastiff lover...just not 28 anymore, lol.
