Title: How many of you have watched "Family Guy"
Post by DonnaH_again on Mar 19th, 2008, 3:25pm
I'm bringing this over from another thread regarding sex and young children, and to call attention to this program.

It's on on a weekday at dinner time (around 6:30 or so)....it's sexually explicit....it's on national TV......it's in cartoon format....the station warns of its' content.

It's not just suggestive, it's explicit.

If you've seen it, what do you think of its programming time?  Would you allow your young child to view it?

I've seen it.  It's a funny show.
I do not let my younger kids watch it (10, 8, 6 and 5).  My teen age kids watch it occasionally but only at night once the little ones are off to bed.

Each parent need to take responsibility for what their kids are watching on TV.

I think it's funny most of the time too,  and I agree that it is at the  parents disgression.

I'm just trying to make parents aware of it, and its timing.  It's a very raunchy show.  Almost porn.

I think it is one of the smartest shows on TV and it definitely crosses every line there is.

It is definitely not for children!!!!

Then again a lot of kids shows are filled with inuendo that goes completely over their heads but the parents get a kick

Love Family Guy. Some smart humor, some dumb humor, some fart humor. It covers all the bases!

I would not let my kids watch it as they get older but that eing said there is certainly many more shows I would be aware of policing before FG. Any night you can flip through and see peoplel beating and killing each other to the point where it is boring.

And have you seen this Bratz stuff? Elementary Grade School very *friendly* persons (or is that very *friendly* personz?) Holy crap! That stuff needs to go!

Oh come on - the pro-filter stopped the word S.l.u.t.t.y.

Which is exacltl what those toys / movies are. They were outlawed in my house at first sight.

We love the show, nice laugh some nights. If we had kids I would not want them watching that show until they were, like, lets say 21 or so!  ::)

Here is a link to the show if somebody has never seen it. [smiley=grin2.gif]

I only watch the weather channel here that has a bunch of tropical fish swimming back and forth among some acquarium rocks...one showing the date....and playing music from 1955. Neat fish though. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/swim fish.gif

Timo and I both love Family Guy! We actually own its first 3 seasons, so we can watch them whenever we want.

And no, it's not for the kids.

Family Guy is GREAT but it is not for kids.  Cartoon does not equal "kid friendly."  Cartoons were developed for political commentary, after all (think of early political cartoons, and some of the powerful, anti-Hitler cartoons in the earlier days of popular animation).  People shouldn't assume that just because something is DRAWN, their kids should be able to watch it.
I'm a little surprised that the show is on at 6:30...here it is never on before 9:00.  Sunday 9:00 on FOX and weeknights at 11:00 on Comedy Central...a few other channels and times too, but all late.

Family Guy is one of the "few" shows I actually watch.
I love it!  I have a 17yr old son, who also watches and really enjoys it.  It is cutting edge humor, and definately not for children.

When my kids were younger, we wouldn't even let them watch REN and STEMPY (tame in comparison)
