Title: And you think you've heard it all~children and sex Post by deltadarlin on Mar 19th, 2008, 8:54am I'm just going to copy and paste the article here. Monroe LA News Star A case involving oral sex between three juveniles on a Morehouse Parish school bus has been turned over to the 4th District Attorney's Office for review. Morehouse Parish Sheriff's chief criminal deputy Mike Tubbs confirmed Monday that an investigation into a complaint filed Thursday found that three students — two 8-year-olds and a 5-year-old — apparently performed oral sex on each other. Tubbs said none of the students were forced to commit the acts and that it appeared to have been consensual. Tubbs said investigators spoke to school officials about the incident. He said a parent who wanted to make sure the incident was documented filed a complaint. "With the ages and maturity levels, we felt it was better dealt with by someone specially trained to deal with it," Tubbs said. |

Yes, Mel, you are living in a bubble ;). Why would there have to be witnesses? The five year old went home and told his parents what happened. If you don't think some 8 year olds *know* about these things, think again (and it's not always learned at home). When Sarah was in the second grade, there was a little boy who kept trying to put his hands under her uniform and *touch* her. She promptly told his daddy and it never happened again, so a)it does happen in younger kids and b)it can be learned from somewhere besides home. |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by BarbaraD on Mar 19th, 2008, 10:26am Ya wanna blame it on something.... TV, no parental control, schools teaching "correct" things too early (what NOT to do and what to watch out for - I know there's a lot of perverts out there, but...). But mostly TV - too graphic for my way of thinking. Need to get back to Ozzie and Harriet, Daddy knows Best, Donna Reed and all the NO BRAINERS.... This reality stuff just puts ideas into their heads and we wonder WHY? My parents didn't have to tell me not to have sex at that age -- I KNEW my nose would grow and I'd go blind... didn't want that to happen now did I? Back in my day we just practiced ABSENTENCE (msp) -- seemed to work real well, but we didn't have 500 channels telling us it was OK to have sex when we were in grade school. My theory - time for parents to take a stand.... Hugs BD |

I do think some 8 yr olds "know" about these things. I also think it's horribly disgusting and wrong. I'd love to take a shotgun to whatever/whoever it was that they learned it from. >:( |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by Langa on Mar 19th, 2008, 11:03am I've heard at least from 3 different friends that when they got their cable bill, they were very high and when they investigated, they saw that "someone" in their house was ordering porn. My questions was: Why weren't those channels blocked? And porn is so easy to get on your computer, too....Sigh...As everyone said, they witness first and then copy. Very sad. :-[ Langa |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by DonnaH_again on Mar 19th, 2008, 12:17pm Have you ever watched "Family Guy"? It's on one of the national channels like NBC or ABC and it's on at dinner time around 6:30, during the week. It's in a cartoon format and is sexually explicit. You've got to see it to believe it. It even contains a warning to parents about its' contents. It's a kid magnet. |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by E-Double on Mar 19th, 2008, 12:30pm It is scary. I remember kids being curious when we were that young. I do not recall actual acts like that occuring. I also recall kids in my junior highschool having sex and getting pregnant at 11 and 12 yrsold. Not much older than 8 especially scary as i have a little one now |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by cash5542 on Mar 19th, 2008, 1:29pm Over my years of teaching I have had a few things like this come up in our schools. I remember having to send 2 KINDERGARTEN children to the office for fiddling with each others private parts under my tables. I had 28 kids in the class and was trying to wash hands, looked over and thats what they were doing. Both kids admitted it. They are now in 5th grade and I'm betting the girl will be pregnant before she gets to High School. She is even worse as a 10 yr old. My 2nd graders were also quite aware of oral sex during the Monica/Clinton ordeal. That really opened up too many discussions for kids too young. I had about 5 kids in at recess helping me clean up and the discussion came up, which I had to quickly stop. Many buses have monitors now to protect the drivers and the kids. This may be one of the cases. Charlotte |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by Charlie on Mar 19th, 2008, 10:47pm First. A legal complaint is a terrible idea on so many levels. It might become something shown on cable news for the next decade, make the kids' lives miserable and with the publicity, it would become something "to do" even more. Idiocy. The kids need a spanking not some goof with a MS in psychology telling them how odd they are. We did all our comparisons behind the garage but we weren't all that interested and certainly had no idea what this equipment was for. Not so today. Charlie |

I agree Charlie... people tend to do too damn much analyzing these days. These kids just need their butts spanked and get on with their lives. |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by DonnaH_again on Mar 20th, 2008, 10:23am These kids need some kind of direction from their parents. They need some kind of an explanation, at their level if that's possible. Encourage them to talk about what they did and, depending on their age, let them know that it is not acceptable behavior at this time and private parts are private. Sex shouldn't be made a taboo item. Sex isn't "bad". |

Title: Re: And you think you've heard it all~children and Post by nani on Mar 20th, 2008, 11:15am More often than not, kids who are sexually precocious have been abused. Abuse can include exposure to porn, or inappropriate TV shows and movies. |
