Title: Bad Movies.
Post by George_J on Mar 19th, 2008, 8:52am
Ellen and I played hooky after school yesterday and went to see "10,000 B. C. "  It truly bit the big one.

Still, though...it was a long way from being the worst movie of all time.  There are many foul contenders-- "Heaven's Gate", "The Boys from Brazil" , "Quest for Fire" , and so forth.

El has a long way to go to complete her cinematic education.  I will try to correct that deficiency, concerned parent that I am.

Best wishes,

George

There was an animated movie that was really vulgar that I just hated.

I also don't like Jackass the Movie.

Borat was dumb too.

JMO, lol.

Timo went to see 10 000 BC last Saturday and he didn't like it either.

My mother from all people has actually seen Borat... And Catwoman and Troy. She has picked some intresting choices considering her usual taste.

I didn't like Conair.

Blair Witch Project  ::)

It didn't even come close to living up to all the hype it got.

I think the name of the cartoon movie was Team America World Police or some stupid thing like that.

Was dumb.

I skipped out to see 10,000 BC also.  It was a good way to blow a couple of hours and $20.00 for tickets and munchies.

Must admit that "No country for old men" was a little strange.

Spaceballs is one of the better parodies of our generation.

"Nobody knows the trouble I seen.
Nobody knows but Jesus."

Unbreakable - I had such high hopesfor that and it was shite.

White noise - the same. It just didn't live up to it's promise and never got going.

Starship Troopers - sat through this with my ex, appalling! Absolutely appalling. Not even funnily bad *shuddering*

There are more. Sadly - many more!

JDH--"Blair Witch Project"--yeah, like what the hell was that?  All I remember about that movie is brown foliage.  Was there an actual plot?

Exactly!  I'm still confused by that dumb movie.   [smiley=huh.gif]

I loved Dumb and Dumber, but just saw the first few minutes of Dumb and Dumberer and quickly changed it.

I loved seeing Brad Pitt eating Peanut butter though...just sayin... ::)

A clip from "Quest for Fire", in case you haven't seen it.  Don't bother seeing the rest--it's much the same.  Tommy Chong's daughter was in it.  No one else, really.

Oh...and "Battlefield Earth".  How could I forget that one?  Based on the L. Ron Hubbard novel, starring John Travolta.  [smiley=hurl.gif]

Ka-ka.

Best,

George

Spaceballs!

SB is great right up there with Young Frankenstien AS far as great funny movies of all time!

Legends of the Fall put me to sleep on a date even though I was with a cute chick on her couch. "He didn't break them, but he was the rock that they broke themselves against".

What a bunch of crap.....

Modified to clarify......

Go to your video store and request " Dark Harvest"--This movie wa so bad it was good, because it was funny. It is listed under the horror movie section. Another favorite of mine is " What's up Tiger Lilly."

Bridges Over Madison County.

Even the voices in my head fell into muted boredom.

I'm sure someone is going to disagree with me but the worst movie I saw recently was "Year of The Dog" with Molly Shannon. It was really dark and boring. I wasn't expecting that from her.

Same timbre as Legend of the Fall. Ugghh.

Brutal.

Chewy,

"Even the voices in my head fell into muted boredom."--Can I borrow that phrase, please?

I take it you probably didn't like the "English Patient" either :)

I'm with Helen on "Starship Troopers." I hated every one of those kids.

"Battlefield Earth" is right up there as the top stinker but nothing compares to "Blair Witch Project" as a complete waste of time. Bleagh.

I never watched the Blair Witch project - I kept thinking it was Tony's wife trying to follow in Bill's wife's footsteps  :o

When Angie and I watched the Blair Witch Project we were under the impression it was based on a true story. We were a little freaked out afterwards then we found out it was a total hoax!  >:(

I guess they got us, but when part 2 came out we boycotted it totally. Damn you Hollywood! [smiley=moonwiggle.gif]

Two awful movies (IMHO) that I wasted my life watching..........About Schmidt with Jack Nicholson and Kathy Bates.........like the actors, did not like the movie.
Movie that got great reviews, but I just did not get.......thought it was boring was Lost in Translation with Bill Murray.

Like Melissa, I think "Borat" is a waste of time. It was incredibly boring to me. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/projector.gif

I love beyond horrible movies too. I got one of those dollar dvd sets at Walmart and saw four SF films that are unbelieveable stinkers. "This Is Not A Test" is the worst, "Killers From Space," (this sounds familiar though) is right up there but "Wasp Woman" and "Unknown World" beat it out on this disk. I loved them all. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/remote.gif

If it's any help, I didn't particularly enjoy those films, either. I went to see About Schmidt, because I've liked Kathy Bates in many other roles. But that film... I didn't like it.

And what comes to Lost in Translation... I went to see it after reading and hearing lots of reviews telling me that it's "hilarious comedy, laughs quaranteed". Well, not for me. I love comedies, but I certainly would not call LIT one.

I'd have to say that Napoleon Dynamite falls into that category for me. It was so bad it was great. But the makers intended it to be that way. And the message was very uplifting and positive. I think the whole thing was made for something ridiculous like $400,000.

The Napolean Dynamite thing seems to be one of theose "lvoe it or hate it" things.

My friend thought it was the funniest ever, I just didn't get it.

Another terrible movie was Cabin Fever - ALMOST walked out on that one and I have never walked out on a movie (yet).

You got that right.  "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is a howler of such monumental proportions that it must be seen to be believed.

"What do you make of that? "   ;;D ;;D

Best,

George

Edit to add:

Another in the same horrible tradition:  "The Killer Shrews", (1959 )

The shrews were actually dogs dressed in animal skins--you can even hear them bark audibly in some scenes.

I own a copy of "Plan Nine" that I bought years ago. Now, TCM runs the thing every so many months. It's one of my favorites. I'm waiting for "Glen or Glenda."

"The Killer Shews" is wonderful if you have a MST3K copy. I have most of one. I think it's the funniest one the crew did.

I rarely miss a running of "Reefer Madness."

Now you see, I loved Borat and Starship Troopers. I also liked Meet Joe Black. I thought it was deep. (leaving myself open, but what the hay)
My least favs would have to include Godfather III. But Dumb and Dumber was just awful. I actually brought it back to the video store after buying it and demanded my money back. They gave it to me.

The Exorcist II was really bad. The Blair Witch Project, that was just stupid... to the point of being stupid. What a waste of time.
